F23 KMail insist on opening links in any browser but the default set in SystemSettings

Hi,

KMail/Kontact keeps opening links in Konqueror instead of the default browser 
Google Chrome. I removed Konqueror from my system but now KMail opens links in 
Firefox but not again in the default browser.

It does that annoying circling thing in system tray, creates an opening link 
notification and then opens link, whole process taking 10-20 seconds, in an 
alternate browser.

[Default Applications]

I think what you want is to manually specific browser in

systemsettings->applications->default applications->web browser

instead of default "open urls in an application based on the contents of the 
url".  It's the detection of "contents of the url" which causes the 
"circling thing" kio notification.

That's been already done long ago when I first installed the system. The 
setting is being ignored by Kontact/KMail.

Mine has:
BrowserApplication[$e]=!google-chrome

There's no BrowserApplication= in the aforementioned file.

OK, that explains why it's not working, systemsettings is supposed to add 
that line when you set default browser.

so, workaround I guess would be to simply add the line
BrowserApplication[$e]=!google-chrome
