Are the notifications stored somewhere?

I'm getting a notification popping up quite regularly and then
immediately disappearing and not showing in the "unread notifications"
list.

So if they're stored somewhere then I can say what the notification is
for, because it appears and disappears too infrequently and quickly for
me to read it, but it is annoying popping up then disappearing.
