Xdvi on my Fedora-11/KDE machine no longer seems to keep up with changes in the DVI file.
Previously, I could latex foo.tex in one window, and run "xdvi foo" in another window. Then if I edited foo.tex and latex-ed it again, the xdvi view was automatically updated.
This no longer seems to happen. Is that a change in TeX-live, or in Fedora, or have I inadvertently changed my setup in some way?

Sounds like an xdvi regression. Okular does this well for PDFs, DVIs, and (I imagine) PS files.

Sorry, xdvi is not a KDE application, so this is not the best place to ask this question. I don't know what's wrong, the people who do are probably not on this list.
But hey, what are you doing still using xdvi? Okular FTW! ;-)

I realized that xdvi was not a KDE application, but I thought the problem might be something to do with communication between desktops in KDE.

Basically, I prefer to use xdvi (and xpdf) because I am more familiar with them.
But I confess that I also feel that in these as in several other cases I'm not convinced that KDE can add anything to well-tried applications.
I admit that with this philosophy I probably should not have asked the question here ...

Possible, but since xdvi is a pure X11 application (at least I would expect it to be, I'm not a user of it), I doubt KDE changed anything. I'd say something in inotify changed.

To each his own.

One thing I love about Okular is that it does wrap-around when grab scrolling (when hitting the bottom of the screen, the mouse goes to the top of the screen and vice versa). I wish gwenview had this for panning over images…
