Hello Fedoras
I'm geting tired of my upgrade to F42, as my F41 ran completely stable.
At least once a day I run into a system hang - it hangs completely and only power down can bring one further.
I find lines like these in jounralctl: jul 16 11:45:04 slimbook.ingnet.dk kscreenlocker_greet[38103]: qml: The backend got an unknown wallpaper provider type. The wallpaper will now fall back to the default. Please check your wallpaper configuration! -- Boot 7418677328bc4154bc6a7eb2081d8de2 --
I've tried to boot in x11, but it seems as if the problem remains.
How do I downgrade to F41? Or are there any known fixes for the problem?
Kindly

Mmmm I never got this kind of error, and no downgrading is unfortunately not a supported action. Have you tried to change your wallpaper to see if that would fix it?

Hi Steve.
No I haven't tried to change wallpaper - I have a folder with 100+ images that is randomly show in a slideshow.
Now I tried to set it to show a blank solid color andI will see what happens.
Thanks for your thoughts.

FWIW, in F41, I have the odd issue with F41 getting screwed up on greeter as well. Not enough to investigate, I am sorry to say. I just have a routine to fix the issue through killing greeter in some cases and loginctl in others.
I don't think this is new. I will do my best to look at the logs when it happens again.
I now keep my different login sessions running as much as possible to stop the need for a reboot.
When it happens on one computer, it is a situation where it needs to be unlocked and working ASAP.

A short folow up on this.
I swiched of the slideshow on the background and choose a single colour.
I havn't run into the hang since then.
Thanks for the inspiration Steve Cossette.

No worries! It's slightly strange that it didn't do it on f41 and does it now on F42. Maybe the library for the wallpaper wasn't on your F42 install?
Not sure. It's strange nonetheless.
