Hello all,
I've upgrade my F14/x86_64/kde-unstable machine yesterday, didn't see anything interesting in particular. However, since the upgrade, I can no longer login into KDE. The login is insanely slow, and ends up with a black screen. Looking at the .xsession-errors, it seems that dbus is dead.
The only thing visible during login is:
5862 ? 00:00:00 kdeinit4 5863 ? 00:00:00 start_kdeinit_w <defunct> 5864 ? 00:00:00 start_kdeinit
Any idea what's up? GNOME seems to be working just fine, so it's no a system wide issue.

Can you move ~/.kde to ~/.kde-old and then try to log in?

No go. Can't login into KDE even w/ clean .kde.

P.S. I can no longer start KDE applications (such as amarok, or krusader) from GNOME either. Pure QT applications (E.g. skype) seems to be working just fine. kdelibs issues?

Sounds like something got borked on install. I'd remove and reinstall. You could probably troubleshoot it, but I wouldn't waste the time.

What version of kdelibs do you have? Latest is 4.5.90 (RC1) but your subject says Beta 2 so I wonder if you have a mismatch.

Try clearing all /tmp/kde-* /var/tmp/kdecache-*
-- Rex
That fixed it, thanks.
