This is a bit of a followup to discussion on fedora-devel. Here are some changes with 4.4.0 for one of my users that happened today:
- Background went completely white - previously was the blue/grey background. This is just one of those annoying things that seem to happen fairly frequently with KDE updates. Doesn't take a whole lot of time to fix, but is still annoying.
- Panel is partially black with very hard to read transparent icons on it. See http://www.cora.nwra.com/~orion/fedora/panel.png. Several users have gotten this. I seem to remember a bug on this, but can't find it now. Intel video (82G33/G31). This is pretty tough to live with.

A /white/ background??? That background should be black. And anyway, I always select a desired background to get the basic black that I want. Of course, I also try to select a wallpaper that will best fill the screen with a minimum of letterboxing--or panning-and-scanning.

No bugs/reports of that ever happening, so it's hard to say what went wrong. any ideas?

Try 4.4.1, but I'm pretty sure this one's not fixed yet.

In particular, if you happen to have a copy of the users' ~/.kde/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc (before you fixed it), then we may have a chance to test too.

This is what it was before the update.
The relevant change appears to be ( to the current version):
[Containments][1][Wallpaper][color] +backgroundMode=0 +color1=210,255,252 +color2=0,0,0 wallpapercolor=60,115,105

Hi,
I don't have a section [Containments][1][Wallpaper][color] at all. In my config I only have [Containments][1][Wallpaper][image]. No issues with the Panel.
In your config under: [Containments][1][Wallpaper][image] there is: wallpapercolor=56,111,150
and under:
[Containments][1][Wallpaper][color] there is: wallpapercolor=60,115,105
Can't these conflict?

That's odd, didn't expect TB to save with 600 permissions. Fixed.

I see this with ati and intel graphic cards. My major complain here is the clock that is on the right side and is mostly invisible with this bug. :-)

It isn't a problem oh this ATi Mobility Radeon X600. Could it be theme- related? I use Air with a Glassified panel.

Thanks Anne, I use Oxygen for applications and changing the workspace theme to Oxygen as well made all that visible again.
Thank you. :-)

It appears that picking either Oxygen or Air fixes it here. But you have to actually select and apply to get it changed.

I have a machine with that chipset: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82G33/G31 Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02)
and don't have any graphics problems with kde 4.4.0,
but the only changes which I did in kde 4.3 was change the background to Air, added a autohide panel to put apps icons, and activated the desktop effects. the update to 4.4.0 was smooth
so maybe a user customization in the configuration of kde trigger the bug.

Gabriel
