Just got latest update to f31 from [copr:copr.fedorainfracloud.org:zawertun:kde]. Once again, trying kde over wayland. Finally, it appears to be usable! Previously when I tested there were 3 showstoppers: 1. No multiple desktops 2. Bad results for hi-dpi 3. x2go didn't work and I need it
Today it looks like all these issues are resolved :)
I do see a lot of warnings like this:
Apr 26 08:19:42 nbecker2 krunner[5724]: org.kde.kf5.kwindowsystem.kwayland: This compositor does not support the Plasma Window Management interface

Well... that is kind of debatable ;-)
Previously when I tested there were 3 showstoppers:
- No multiple desktops
- Bad results for hi-dpi
- x2go didn't work and I need it
That sounds like good news.
I have also my list of showstoppers which are not fixed yet though:
1- Kontact suite is unusable under Wayland. 2- Session crashes on logout (should be fixed with the next release: https:// bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=420077) 3- Session crashes on lock (hope it's also fixed by the above) 4- Firefox copy/paste only works when using CSD (well, not a showstopper but... still annoying ) 5- ssh-add doesn't work on wayland session ( I can somehow workaround it but is still very very annoying.
Best,
Marc
One more test and one more problem:
Tested plugging in an external monitor. This was not very good. First, it was very difficult to find a cursor so I could do anything. The laptop screen got rescaled and looked awful. Switching to external monitor only was fine. Unplugging external monitor left laptop screen scaled badly. Manually switching the scaling back to 100% fixed it (it had changed to 125% supposedly, although it looked to be scaled more like 3x).
