Just gotta say what a treat it is to be running KDE 4.3.1. Its smooth, fast, nice, powerful, versatile, etc. I am very happy with it, save for a few issues with Konqueror when browsing the web. (Still my fave browser though...)
Good work team KDE. Your efforts are appreciated.
Aside: for the life of me I cannot figure out why people continue to run Windows. Is it me or is Linux/Fedora/KDE overwhelmingly better than any and all flavors of Windows ?

Different folks, different strokes. Or, all a matter of opinion. ;^)

Have you tried rekonq? I've only tried it briefly, but I did like it.

You, my dear, are an angel ! Thanks for enlightening me about rekonq. It doesn't crash on some of my fav websites like konq does. And its the same as konq. Fabulous.
Open source absolutely rocks.

It's missing a few features (access keys, adblock filter, to name a few) that keep me on konq right now. But rekonq definitely shows some hope here...

You can try Arora - it has really very simple UI but as Qt application similar to Konqueror. Access keys unfortunately work only with Qt 4.6 but there's ad block (I don't use it) and flash block (with load flash button). Latest version 0.10.x supports password storage (but still not integrated with KWallet). It's not well integrated to KDE but I like the speed and simple UI, especial on my old EEE 701.

I've just installed it (on F11). It was horribly slow to start up, and I couldn't find any way to import my firefox bookmarks. Then I tried to import an html bookmark file from an earlier mozilla, and it simply shut down the import interface, putting me back in the browser window. No imported bookmarks were visible.
Any idea why?

Interesting, that's why I use it - fastest startup I've ever seen. I have no idea.

I've never tried to import bookmarks, let me check it or better file a bug (as reminder, my head is like pipe - one ear in, another one out :D)

When i started using Arora started up very slow, but after blacklisting ipv6 all slowness was gone.

On 09-06-09 I imported my bookmarks from Firefox - bookmarks.html - without a problem. This, on rawhide and F11.

All of which made me try it again. This time it opened up amazingly fast, and...

all my bookmarks are there!
So what was happening? Maybe it was still doing some 'first-time' stuff, making it slow to launch. It's odd about the bookmarks - they were definitely not showing at the time - but maybe it needs a re-start to read them.
Anyway, whatever the reasons, it now is a very promising possibility.

Its a very fast browser for me too. On a fast website the pages redraw so fast that its a bit dizzying. Maybe the redraw is just jerky.

I'd rather say Linux+KDE+Fedora Because 1. I do not use Win at all 2. but I dislike Gnome (I can not be as productive with it as I'm with KDE and all its applications) 3. but Fedora brings the best KDE out there, and I've tested Kubuntu's [this one is a disaster], Mandriva's and OpenSuse's; just see that KDE is now the *default* desktop on OpenSuse, but it does not have the Fedora's KDE quality [I guess 'cause it's very hacked, à la Suse/Novell fashion; I just like Fedora's POV https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Staying_close_to_upstream_projects which lead me first to start using Fedora].

I'd rather say Linux+KDE+Fedora Because
- I do not use Win at all
I just can't function with a GUI that doesn't allow me to have more than one desktop at once. Its just too cluttered to have everything on one desktop.
- but I dislike Gnome (I can not be as productive with it as I'm with KDE and
all its applications)
Agreed.
- but Fedora brings the best KDE out there, and I've tested Kubuntu's [this
one is a disaster], Mandriva's and OpenSuse's; just see that KDE is now the *default* desktop on OpenSuse, but it does not have the Fedora's KDE quality [I guess 'cause it's very hacked, à la Suse/Novell fashion; I just like Fedora's POV https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Staying_close_to_upstream_projects which lead me first to start using Fedora].
Agreed. Hats off to the Fedora-KDE team. Well done.

Your title didn't sound like that to me. ;-) Unless you were alluding to the smoothness. ^^

Thank you!

Because they don't know about anything else than the crap which was preloaded onto their computer (and charged the infamous "M$ tax" for). Death to racketware (my translation of the French "racketiciel" which I think sums up the situation nicely)!
Is it me or is Linux/Fedora/KDE overwhelmingly better than any and all flavors of Windows ?
Of course it is! :-)
