Hi guys,
I have some strange issues here with some icons not being displayed. Hopefully someone can help or at least confirm that he is observing something similiar.
1. Amarok icon does not show in the system tray making it every difficult to use. It seems like it is actually in the tray, but where the icon shall be there is a gray area. However the context menu shows up when clicking at it and seems to be basically working fine, except there is no icon?
2. I think that most GTK applications are affected by something similiar. However this time the task bar is affected. Applications like "gPodder" or "eclipse" does not show any icon in the task bar and thus making it difficult to identify them easily. The icons seems to be basically available and seems to be working fine e.g. with a folder view on the desktop.
Any ideas or similiar observations?
Best regards, Florian

Yes. I see this. Amarok has blank systray icon.

I don't have any gtk applications to test. But I have another observations with file icons in Dolphin. MSI and APK files do not have any icon. Not even the 'unknown' type icon with a question mark.

Didn't notice this so far, but yes. I am confirming that MSI files are also "blank" and not containing any icon, not even "unknown type". Seems like we are suffering the same issue here.

Yep, APK files have no icon. I am using Breeze for all sort of things including icons, gtk themes, desktop theme, etc.
System does correctly recoginze it as an Android package and Ark is designated as preferred app to open the archive file. Changing icon theme doesn't do anything. Fallback icon theme is also not being utilized.
Does the bug go against Dolphin or Breeze icon theme?

I ended up filing the bug report.

Interesting, I cannot reproduce this. amarok systray icon displays ok for me on my f23 box.

Something interesting and strange going on certainly.
Could be relevant, what plasma theme and icon theme are you using?
(I'm using default Breeze for both, fwiw)

Hi Rex,
Interesting, I cannot reproduce this. amarok systray icon displays ok for me on my f23 box.
Hm. Seems like Syam suffers the same issue. Was your system a fresh installation or an upgraded installation?
Also cannot reproduce.

I just uploaded a screenshot to illustrate the issues I am encountering here: http://www.phobeus.de/tmp/taskbar.png
1. Gpodder is within the taskbar but does not have any icon. Not even unknown one. 2. Gpodder is "blank" within the system tray. Clicking on it does bring up gpodder as expected and hovering shows that there is "gpodder". 3. Same situation with Amarok in the tray. Interaction seems to be fine as context menu is showed when right click.
The other space there is some random wine application showing up a tray as well. From my observation this seems to be mostly "gtk" application that are suffering by this issue. (gpodder, eclipse, wine). Amarok seems to be the only KDE application that does have this issue as well. Maybe cause it is still KDE4? The wine application that does not show up in the tray, does have an icon in the taskbar however. So I am not sure what exactly is the issue here as some application does not show either, while others just not show up in one. The affected application are always the same (so seems no random stuff).

Negative. Using "breeze" theme for icon and "Fedora Twenty Three" as plasma theme. But... WTF ... cause of your guess, I switched to "Breeze" as theme as well. Still an issue. But when I switch to "Oxygen" theme, amarok does appear (taskbar and tray). Other GTK application still missing however. This is pretty weird. Any further ideas?

It's a fresh installation. I'm on nVidia drivers from negativo, if that matters.

Surprise! Just updated the system and now Amarok has an icon in the systray.

Hi,
for the records. I just upgraded to KF 5.17 from updates-testing and it seems like the issue with the GTK Icons in the system tray was fixed by it. No empty spaces in the system tray anymore. Not saw this for a pretty long time.
The issue with the taskbar still exists however. Some applications (manually installe dones? Self-Compiled gpodder, downloaded eclipse) are still lacking of icons in the task bar. The starter left to it, seems to be affected as well, while all other places (e.g. quick launch) seems to be working fine.
Best regards, Florian
Hi guys,
I have some strange issues here with some icons not being displayed. Hopefully someone can help or at least confirm that he is observing something similiar.
- Amarok icon does not show in the system tray making it every
difficult to use. It seems like it is actually in the tray, but where the icon shall be there is a gray area. However the context menu shows up when clicking at it and seems to be basically working fine, except there is no icon?
- I think that most GTK applications are affected by something
similiar.
