Maybe you need to add the x86_64 repos to your yum config.

add x86_64 repos to yum doesn't work, because x86_64 packages couldn't
be displayed by yum on i386 arch.
IIRC, I did it before by using a x86_64 environment to install it
to a i386 root, I meant use rpm command with '-r' argument.
I think this is definitely reasonable for people who want use i386
distro for compatible reason and also want use large address space.
