[PATCH v2] kdumpctl: Only returns immediately after an error occurs in check_*_modified

Currently is_system_modified will return immediately when check_*_modified
return a non-zero value, and the remaining checks will not be executed.
For example, if there is a fs-related error exists, and someone changes the
kdump.conf, check_files_modified will return 1 and is_system_modified will
return 1 immediately. This will cause kdumpctl to skip check_fs/drivers_modified,
kdump.service will rebuild the initrd and start successfully, however, any
errors should prevent kdump.service from starting.
This patch will cause check_*_modifed to continue running until an error occurs
or all execution ends.

[PATCH 0/2] consolidated s390 device configuration

Consolidate the persistent and dynamic configuration of s390-specific
network devices by delegating the configuration to the existing framework
zdev from s390-tools.
This is part of a larger consolidation comprising:

However, there are no dependencies on these other pull requests, so the
change here can go in independently. It only depends on zdev from
s390-tools, which exists since years.
Zdev's job is to perform low-level configuration after which the user gets
architecture-independent objects such as network interfaces. Those can and
should in turn be configured with existing common code mechanisms. So
there's a clear separated layering for configuration duties.
In particular, the s390-specific network devices currently are: ZNET
representing channel-attached network (QETH incl. OSA and HiperSockets,
LCS, CTC). Zdev has a stable command line user interface and abstracts from
sysfs and from a persistent configuration representation. Zdev encapsulates
configuration details. Systems management code can simply delegate
configuration to zdev and thus reduce architecture-specific code.
This improves user experience, serviceability, maintainability, and reduces
test effort.

[PATCH v3] kdump-lib.sh: add extra 64M to default crashkernel if sme/sev is active

It's reported that kdump kernel failed to boot and can't dump vmcore
when crashkernel=192M and SME/SEV is active.
This is because swiotlb will be enabled and reserves 64M memory by
default on system with SME/SEV enabled. Then kdump kernel will be out of
memory after taking 64M away for swiotlb init.
So here add extra 64M memory to default crashkernel value so that kdump
kernel can function well as before. When doing that, search journalctl
for the "Memory Encryption Features active: AMD" to check if SME or SEV
is active. This line of log is printed out in kernel function as below
and the type SME is mutual exclusive with type SEV.

Note:
1) The conditional check is relying on journalctl log because I didn't
find available system interface to check if SEV is active. Even
though we can check if SME is active via /proc/cpuinfo. For
consistency, I take the same check for both SME and SEV by searching
journalctl.
2) The conditional check is relying on journalctl log, means it won't
work for crashkernel setting in anoconda because the installation
kernel doesn't have the SME/SEV setting. So customer need manually
run 'kdumpctl reset-crashkernel' to reset crashkernel to add the
extra 64M after OS installation.
3) We need watch the line of log printing in
print_mem_encrypt_feature_info() in kernel just in case people may
change it in the future.

[PATCH] Fix two issues in _crashkernel_add

1. it couldn't address a terabyte memory range e.g. _crashkernel_add "128G-1T:4G" "0"
actually returns empty result
2. it allows a memory delta without a unit specified and returns the incorrect result
e.g. _crashkernel_add 1G-4G:256M,4G-64G:320M,64G-:576M 100 actually
returns 1G-4G:268435556,4G-64G:335544420,64G-:603979876
Note a memory delta without unit like 0M is allowed.

[PATCH] kdumpctl: return the worst return value of check_*_modified in is_system_modified

check_*_modified will be executed in order, but when the previous return value
is not 0, the remaining checks will not be executed. is_system_modified will
return immediately if the previous check returns 1, regardless of whether the
remaining checks return 2. However, if the return value is 2, it means an error
has occurred, and kdumpctl should not continue execution.

[PATCH RFC] Add GUI/TUI notifier when kdump.conf is modified

When kdump.conf is modified, we need to notify customers that, a
kdumpctl test is needed in order to confirm that the config is effective
enough to generate a vmcore file when system really crashes.
This patch achieves this by running a background function which calls
pyinotify to monitor the file modification. Whenever the file changes,
and the md5sum of the config differs from the one which had passed the
"kdumpctl test-check", a GUI notification sent by notify-send, and a
TUI notification sent by wall, will be generated.
This patch is a follow-up of the patchset: Introducing kdumpctl
test/test-check to kexec-tools

[PATCH] tests: enable kdump.service in the systemd preset policy to allow setting up the crashkernel kernel parameter automatically

Previously, the kernel parameter crashkernel will be set up when
kexec-tools is installed. But now it will happen only when kdump.service
is enabled first. When kexec-tools is installed, the kdump.service will
be enabled according to the systemd policy file and later the kernel
parameter crashkernel will be added only if kdump.service is enabled.
Fedora disables kdump.service in the systemd policy. So enable
kdump.service in the systemd preset policy manually in the test script.

[PATCH] Only try to reset crashkernel when kdump.service is enabled

Currently, when kexec-tools is installed, the kernel will automatically
have the crashkernel parameter set up. In the case where users only want
the kexec reboot feature, this is not what users want as a 1G-RAM system
will lose 192M memory. Considering Fedora's systemd preset policy has
kdump.service disabled and RHEL' has kdump.service enabled, this patch
makes kexec-tools only reset crashkernel when kdump.service is enabled.

[PATCH v3] Split kexec-tools into kexec-tools, kdump-utils and makedumpfile

This patch splits current kexec-tools into three packages kexec-tools,
kdump-utils and makedumpfile.
- the new kexec-tools is the same to the upstream kexec-tools which
provides the kexec and vmcore-dmesg binaries
- kdump-utils is responsible for building the kdump initrd and loading
it via the kexec binary
- makedumpfile is responsible for making a small dumpfile of vmcore
It's desirable to make this package modular because 1) now there is a
growing user base to use the kexec reboot 2) packaging makedumpfile and
kexec-tools alone will reduce the maintenance work.
When an old version of kexec-tools gets replaced by kdump-utils,
"%systemd_post" will be executed in the post scriptlet which has the
purpose to "systemctl preset kdump" for freshly installed kexec-tools.
But in the case of kdump-utils replacing kexec-tools, it is not needed
so skip this case.
"dnf repoquery --whatrequires kexec-tools" shows the following packages
requires kexec-tools,
- abrt-addon-vmcore
- anaconda-install-env-deps
- cockpit-kdump
- dracut-kiwi-oem-dump
- realtime-setup
- retrace-server
For those packages that need kdump, the dependency needs to point to
the new kdump-utils package instead.
Note some small improvements are also made in this change,
- stop mkdir'ing kcp as kcp.c has been gone long time ago
- use autosetup to automatically apply patches
- add the GPL2 LICENSE https://www.gnu.org/licenses/old-licenses/gpl-2.0.txt
for kdump-utils (the source code of makedumpfile and kexec-tools already
contain the license)
- remove unneeded Obsoletes
- use consistent build flags %make and %make_install (the benefits
include enabling parallel building automatically and avoiding installing
package file one by one)
- use "install -t -D" to simplify spec

[PATCH v5 0/3] Split kexec-tools into kexec-tools, kdump-utils and makedumpfile

This patch splits current kexec-tools into three packages kexec-tools,
kdump-utils and makedumpfile.
- the new kexec-tools is the same to the upstream kexec-tools which
provides the kexec and vmcore-dmesg binaries
- kdump-utils is responsible for building the kdump initrd and loading
it via the kexec binary
- makedumpfile is responsible for making a small dumpfile of vmcore
It's desirable to make this package modular because 1) now there is a
growing user base to use the kexec reboot 2) packaging makedumpfile and
kexec-tools alone will reduce the maintenance work.
To make it easier for reviewer, the 1st patch is almost an verbatim
splitting of original kexec-tools.spec. The 2nd patch fixes an issue
where kdump.service is reset unintentionally. The 3rd patch makes
various improvements to the SPEC files.
