The fix was actually two patches (systemd and kmod) that had to be applied *both*. IIRC there was a short period of time when one of the packages was available for update but second wasn't, that shouldn't be the case anymore, though. And I'm not sure, by I think that for the changes to take full effect, you just have to reboot the machine.
