I've created https://pagure.io/koji/issue/3165 for that. We still have to maintain py 2.7 (at least until 2024 (RHEL6 EOL)). I'll make some notice about this in the docs.

Actually - In mock development, Early in 2022, we plan to branch Mock and the main branch will support only EL9 and EL8.
The old branch for EL7 will get only important fixes (if there will be any). I recommend the same for Koji.
