Does Bodhi need to be covered by the FPCA?

For a long time I didn't know that Bodhi should be covered by the FPCA so some commits have gone in from contributors who don't have Fedora accounts. Pierre-Yves Chibon had mentioned to me that it was required for contributors to sign the FPCA, but then I forgot to check that for a long time until today, resulting in even more contributions that weren't covered by the FPCA. I read the FPCA again today and noticed that it defines "Submit" with examples that end with "version control systems administered by Fedora". Though the examples do say "without limitation", the fact that it doesn't just say "version control systems" seems to imply that version control systems not administered by Fedora would not be covered. Since Bodhi is on GitHub which is not administered by Fedora, does Bodhi need FPCA for contributions? Is License In = License Out not sufficient for Bodhi? If it is required, what should I do about the contributors from the past who hadn't agreed to the FPCA? I wrote this pull request for the case that FPCA is required: https://github.com/fedora-infra/bodhi/pull/1388

c-pchart: GPL unless you wish to use it in a commercial project

Hello! Remi Collet noted in a package review[0] I submitted that there is some unclear wording about the licensing of the package. The readme[1] says: > It was previously stated that this package is on MIT license, which > did not meet the requirements set by the original author. It is now > under the GNU GPL v3 license, so if you wish to use it in a > commercial project, you need to pay an appropriate fee. The pchart.net license page[2] says even more, but also has a slight contradiction I think: > The pChart library is released under two different licenses. If your > application is not a commercial one (eg: you make no money by > redistributing it) then the GNU GPLv3 license (General Public > License) applies. With this > license you don't need to make publicly available your application > code under the GPL license terms. The slight contradiction I referenced is the "if you can't meet the GPL" bit. The first paragraph specifically cites making money by redistributing, but the second paragraph sounds like they think it's OK if you follow the GPL terms. It's confusing. I think Remi is right to say that we need to get clarification before we can add this package to Fedora. One thing that makes this a bit more complicated is that the szymach version of pchart sounds like it might be a fork of pchart, but doesn't make that clear either. Is this a blocker for package review? Would we need both upstreams to grant a clearer license before we can proceed? AC-3 support in Fedora

As Neal Gompa pointed out yesterday, the last standards essential patent for AC-3 support expired: https://ac3freedomday.org/ Accordingly, AC-3 is now legally permissible for Fedora and the Fedora Community is working on moving A52dec (liba52) into Fedora as a result. Christian Schaller has a very complete blog post on this topic here: https://blogs.gnome.org/uraeus/2017/03/22/another-media-codec-on-the-way/ Please keep in mind that if you know of something that isn't A52dec/liba52 or aften, that implements AC-3 natively (not just via linking to liba52), please let Fedora Legal take a look at it (either via emailing legal(a)fedoraproject.org, emailing this list, or blocking the Review Ticket against FE-Legal). Forwarded from https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1413646#c2 The upstream of librealsense, Intel demands that when we want to contribute to librealsense via github pull request (for example): https://github.com/IntelRealSense/librealsense/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md such contributer are required to accept Intel CLA (Individual Contributor **License** Agreement): https://github.com/IntelRealSense/librealsense/blob/master/CLA.md I suspect that this CLA may be additional requirement (or license) when developing librealsense. So: 1. Should this CLA be regarded as something like additional "license" or so? 2. In such case (or if not, in any case), can this CLA be accepted for packages on Fedora? Small bitmap Nintendo logo in package

Hi, a package on review includes a small (48 bytes) bitmap of the Nintendo logo [0]. The author of the package claims that: > This bitmap must be present in the ROM in order for the console to > boot into the game. It is my understanding the presence of the logo, > when it's required to pass hardware restrictions, is not a trademark > violation, rather, it deemed fair use in the US (see [1]), but IANAL.
