Another thing I forgot:

Do you have parted installed? I think it is a dependency for mkinitrd,
but one could of course force rpm to install mkinitrd without checking
deps.

So, what does rpm -q parted say?

Please post output of:

rpm -q parted
rpm -ql parted
ls -al <path_to_the_libparted_so>
