Is anyone interested in maintaining kadischi rpm packages? I think it would be a good idea for this to be thought about now, before or after kadischi has a new project maintainer.
I have built an rpm of kadischi, but as nmap64 and mether stated the kadischi project was lucky to have it's mailing list put on fedoraproject.org. Regardelss of what they believe I have used kadischi successfully polenty of times. I will continue to provide an installable package for ease-of-use to users that may request it. I will possibly look into packaging kadischi and submitting it to Fedora Extras. I know I like kadischi, I think it is pretty neat. I don't suppose anyone can get ahold of Darko or Greg and possibly ask for more details on the TODO list that is at http://fedoraproject.org/Kadischi uh?
I'm particularly interested in "modify firstboot to do some configuration". The only thing I could think of is: 1) What runlevel should I start in? 2) What is the address of your internet gateway, or DHCP server? 3) What services should start during bootstrap?
Any one else have any ideas?
Yes. Among other things I believe getting Anaconda patches to patch clean on Fedora Core 5 stock is very important. Last I remember is Anaconda was _going_ to recieve these changes, however with nothing being said on this list more about it I don't know anyting myself.
So, yes and no. Regardless of the patches, a kadischi rpm can be built, the patches included with kadischi patch cleanly with Fedora Core 4's Anaconda, even the latest update. Maybe this will change by Fedora Core 5, maybe it won't. So modifications of existing patches, getting the changes in new Anaconda releases, whatever it takes to get kadischi to run properly using a Fedora Core 5 stock repository, and within Fedora Core 5.

I need to get it up and running on FC5 to see if I like it first ;-)
Surely it's anaconda patches would need to be accepted into anaconda before it was very useful to have a kadischi RPM?

I hate it when someone misquotes me so badly.

I guess the best way to move forward is to look at the code and try and figure out the details and take lead of the project.
Hello there, Im not a programmer, but a kadischi tester. But since probably there will be a FUDCon at linuxtag in wiesbaden soon, I might be available to spread the word through a conference. I mean explain the Fedora Live CD project. For this, I might be looking for YOUR help. If this turns out to be a success, I might continue to promote it in the Open Source day Event in Strasbourg too.
Eventually, I might be also available to package kadischi.
I think this is a great idea. There is nothing better than limelight for something that is otherwise pale.
