Greetings,

Has anyone had any success automating the installation of fedora
xfce
30. I want to automate the installation of the xfce spin from the
live cd. Everything works great with this distribution. I'm
installing it so much i need to be able to automate the process. If
i try to begin the kickstart process like i normally would with
redhat or fedora installation DVD with the options
"inst.ks=cdrom:/dev/sr1:/kick.cfg" or something similar it will not
run the kickstart process and just start the gui interface. Any help
would be appreciated.
I haven't tried to do a kickstart installation in more than a decade. I'm
guessing that there are properties about the live media that are a bit challenging for
kickstart but I'd love to be wrong about that.
The reason I've lived without it is because I've been making my own respins that
are fully updated and have the packages I want preinstalled... and doing a regular install
has been pretty efficient that way. In both methods, there always seem to be a few manual
config tasks post-install.
When I've wanted to do a bunch of machines at once, usually I just do one system and
then using a physical disk cloner (or bootable external hard disk with Clonezilla live and
an image storage partition) and clone that. Again, there'll be a little bit of
post-clone/install manual config tasks.
Sorry I didn't have a better answer for you. Maybe someone will.
TYL,
