does Fedora-7-Live CD provide a way to upgrade existing FC system? (FC4)

I'm trying to upgrade an FC4 system to Fedora 7 and thought the
Fedora-7-Live-i686.iso would be the way to do it.    But after booting the 
Live CD, I don't see any option or  instructions or application program to 
upgrade. Is there one? If so - what?

I am actually running the Live CD in a vmware virtual machine with virtual 
CDRom mapped onto the iso image - it works fine but is rather slow, so not 
easy for me to try experiments.    Hoping someone can simply say this is 
what you have to do.     Pointers to relevant doc welcome.      Also, if 
there is a way - can I run it in the old non-graphical curses mode like the 
older Fedora installers?    Might be a bit faster than the graphical 
interface, nice though it looks.

I saw this same question asked in the forum but with no reply, so hoping I 
have a better chance of answer here.     I didn't see way of searching the 
list archives, so apologies if asked already.

Not at the moment.  The second major limitation is that formatting of 
the root(/) volume is required.  Actually that will happen if you 
request it or not in the f7-livecd.  I have a bug outstanding suggesting 
that be added to the errata/known-bugs/release notes, I don't know if it 
has yet.

I'm working on that part, most of my hardware is too underpowered to run
X-windows.

If you're using Fedora as a desktop, I've found that mostly the OS doesn't
matter and I can do upgrades just by copying my home directory.  The only
thing I really change on the system is to enable sudo.  Google for "fedora
upgrade copy home directory" for more information.

I personally advocate that, and coin the process "wipegrade".

Please note, that the aforementioned bug about root(/) being formatted 
regardless of user-choice in f7-livecd, was discovered by someone who 
had /home as a subdir on their / volume, and thought that it would 
survive the installation, when in fact it did not.

Unfortunately, not really.  Given the way that the live install works,
it can't be used for upgrades.
