Video code for Insight?
by Paul W. Frields
http://camendesign.com/code/video_for_everybody
This page ("Video for Everybody") has an interesting approach to a
one-size-fits-all page for video that we should consider for Fedora
Insight. Maybe Simon knows if it would be possible to use this inside
some sort of template for video download pages?
Note that this approach does place Ogg Theora as first choice, but
provides graceful fallbacks for other platforms as needed. If Fedora
Insight is to serve as a marketing tool for Fedora, we need to be able
to reach people who aren't already able to see Ogg Theora as well.

That sounds perfect.

If you'd like company, just holler to the logistics list and we'll see
if anyone's free to join in on the fun (if I'm free, I'll certainly be
there).

This makes perfect sense - here's what I think needs to happen to finish
this part:
1. (the easy one:) What should these two groups be called? newswriter
and newseditor, maybe?
2. What privileges in zikula should each group have, in zikula-speak?
(Probably a question for upstream/Simon, in interpreting your requirements.)
3. What needs to happen to get those groups created (with Pascal as the
initial owner) and hooked into zikula as described?
We'd need to follow a similar process once more for Marketing once we
start adding Marketing content, but we're just getting News going for now.

This sounds like a good idea - we tried once to restart those meetings,
but nobody really picked up on it. If there's a time (on Wednesday night
or otherwise) that works for you, I'm happy to hop in and be your minion
for this, and we'll see who else we can get to come. ;)
When is good? My meeting calendar is relatively open in the EST
afternoons, with the exception of Tuesday (which is claimed by Marketing
from 2000-2100 UTC/3-4pm EST in winter).

Setting up a weekly zikula test cycle
by Mel Chua
Hi, FWN! (Copying logistics as a FYI.)
We're at the point where we have Fedora Insight (a.k.a. FI,
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_Insight) up on staging
(https://stg.fedoraproject.org/insight/) and ready to have a workflow
and content put on it. The theme isn't done, nor is the URL schema, but
everything needed to get content in and through it should be up and
running.
Our first target for production is to help FWN migrate its workflow from
ttp://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FWN/WorkFlow to
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FWN/FIWorkFlow - the latter being what
Pascal and Dale came up with at FUDCON
(http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Zikula_hackfest). To figure out when
we're ready to pull the switch, I'd like to propose the following weekly
test cycle.
1. Every Monday, after FWN is published, we do a little sprint to take
the just-published FWN content and "republish" it using the FI workflow
as it's written at that time.
2. If we find a bug in the FWN FI workflow, report it (and FWN can fix
it before the next sprint). If we find a bug in our zikula deployment,
report it (and the deployment team will fix it before the next sprint).
3. Repeat.
This way, once we flip the switch, we'll already have several back
issues of FWN queued up on Insight, and a crew that's familiar with
using the new software. What we need to be ready for this to happen (I
think we have most of it already, but would like confirmation):
1. Making sure that the FWN workflow how-to instructions should be so
clear that anyone can follow them - I will be there and helping, but
need instructions to tell me what to do. ;)
2. Make sure that any setup (categorization, pagemaster-fu, etc.) needed
is documented and done on the staging instance - again, this is a "FWN,
tell us how you are setting up - this is your space!" thing.
3. Figure out who/what-roles from FWN should have what administrative
privileges in zikula, and make (and hook-in) the appropriate FAS groups
to make that happen. (I don't think we have done this yet - what would
you like to do here?)
Thoughts? Does this sound like a good next-step for getting started?
Thanks!

f.insight question and theme update
by Craig Thomas
Hi all,
I have noticed that pt6 and my own installs of zikula do not include a
way to actually add the existing categories to 'Feeds' in the
administration area. The responsible templates certainly have code to
render 'categories' as a select box in the Feed module. We have
categories in the ROOT category tree in the 'categories'
administration pages[0]. There seems to be some thing either
improperly configured or plain old broken.
So, my question is: can someone who knows or has some prior experience
with zikula/postnuke look into our categories and or feed setup(s) and
see if all is as it should be? or are we broken?
Also, last weekend I pushed some changes to the theme:
http://git.fedoraproject.org/git/fedora-insight-theme.git?p=fedora-insigh...
Please let me know if anyone using it sees any issues or has comments.
Cheers and thanks for any help on the categories,

RE: Reminder: Zikula sprint with Simon in #fedora-mktg in ~6.75 hours
by Simon Birtwistle
Sincere apologies to everyone, but I've had some severe transport issues and can't get home tonight. While I could join IRC on my mobile I don't think I'd be much help. Instead, I'll sign in tomorrow evening at the same time - I hope that those who were planning to join me can make that time. If not, I should be available at the weekend as well.
Once again, I am really sorry for the no-show and added late notice....
Simon

Reminder that we'll have Simon Birtwistle (itbegins) in #fedora-mktg in
approximately 6.75 hours to work with us on Insight, so if you need
zikula-guru time, join us on IRC at 21:30 UTC, and/or leave questions
and to-do things for the sprint here:
