To get more announce on the announce mailing list?

Hi there,

[Should I used the marketing mailing list instead?]

Actually we have got really few announce on the announce mailing list.
This list is used to send some important information to our users.
The last announce is the Alpha release. Which was centuries ago.

Couldn't we come up with a general announce explaining the F18 release slip?
I am sure that many users have no idea why the F18 won't be release this month.

On an other side, couldn't we get more announce on that list? For example,
voting period? Or some other Fedora community important facts... (Yeah,
marketing should have more ideas...).

I know that announce has to be a low traffic mailing list, just few ideas
spotted there.

Also, please note that we changed the start.fedoraproject.org webpage, and it
still have an old announce. Should we remove the one older than a month?

My bad.. That is the Alpha ARM release from the 1st of Nov. Ok, that is not too
old.

Your point is still valid, I think. I'm not sure if voting
announcements should be sent there (I can make arguments for either
case), but we definitely should come up with a public explanation for
the delays.

Election, voting, release announcements, etc. go to the announce mailing 
list.

And there have been multiple mails this month - both about elections, 
about FUDCon NA, as well as the ARM mail...

I would leave it to Jaroslav regarding if he wants to send slip mails to 
announce rather than just devel-announce/test-announce; having a more 
formal explanation probably needs to be taken up with marketing to begin 
with.

Well, I talked to Nicholas Kesick, he asked me to add announce list to CC
of slip emails sent to [devel,test]-announce lists. I'm ok with that
but I think the format should be a different - as it aims different
target audience. I'm ok to work with marketing on it, the latest slip
really deserves to be explained to the community.

Oh, second error from me today..
This is then a bug on our part (websites), ticket[1] created.

I remember that we already spoke about writing more to the announce mailing list
weeks ago, but at least what you told us is fine.
