What about lxpolkit? Without PolicyKit authentication agent nothing
will work. Or there is no final decision to include lxpolkit in
Also what about networking? NetworkManager is not an LX* package,
but it's critical for desktop to have a network configuration utility.

as you may have noticed Fedora is about to change it's update policy.
New updates get tested more carefully to avoid the breakage we sometimes
had in the past. You can read all about the new update policy at
For the new update policy we need to define a "critical path" for each
desktop environment. This is a set of packages that is considered as
important for the desktop and therefore get more testing. For more info
on the critical path, see
My suggestion for LXDE is to use the lxde-common package because it
already requires everything else we need and ties all the packages
together with a reasonable default config:
In fact lxde-common requires some more things
* desktop-backgrounds-compat (for the wallpaper)
* system-logos (which is a virtual Provides: provided by
fedora-logos and generic-logos)
* xdg-utils (because we use xdg-open and have a launcher
xdg-screensaver in the panel)
* xorg-x11-utils (because xprop is used in startlxde)
Is everybody fine with this set or should there be more packages in the
group, e.g. all lx* packages or at least the ones that are "default"
ones of lxde-desktop?
