The Magazine editors discussed this pitch at the last meeting. We would like to see an article that is more focused on helping users make sue of some cool new LibreOffice features, and then in conclusion points out a few ways people can get involved. While the Magazine supports free software contribution, it's not the focus of the site. We've found that such articles don't tend to attract readers. An article that shows off some an interesting feature or use case, and then includes a shrot pitch for contribution, would be more effective.
