Hi Magazine contributors,
I have finished up the Fedora Core 1 virtual machine for the 15-year anniversary article publishing this coming Tuesday. If anyone is able to, please download the tarball[1] and follow the instructions in the README. I really want to make sure this works before we publish the article on Tuesday.

Fixing stuff mv fedora-core-1.xml fedora-core-1.xml.in sed -i 's//home/link/_HOME_/' fedora-core-1.xml.in make install
Starting the VM with GNOME Boxes I get an errror related to the machine type (I'm on F28): unsupported machine type Indeed, using "qemu-system-x86_64 -machine help" I get no pc-i440fx-3.0, (if 3.0 is the version) the newest one is pc-i440fx-2.9 Putting pc-i440fx-2.9 as the machine type in the XML file (and issuing make install again after deleting the VM), the VM starts. Link got same thing issue as Alessio.

Right. The current tarball has that problem. If you want to clone the repo[1], you can move the .qcow2 image into the repo directory, and run `make install` from within the directory. I *think* that should work too.

Michael Erwin michael.t.erwin@gmail.com This email is RFC 1925 compliant and composed on 99.9% recycled electrons, so please print responsibly.
Awesome Link!, It worked like a champ after a bit.
I created fedora-core-1.xml.in file from pagure.io & updated the make file to match the one on pagure.io as well.
You might want to mention the reader might need to instll libvirt- client & Gnome Boxes before running make install. I didn't see it in the text or the readme.md, and wouldn't assume the reader knows it needs to be installed first. :-)
sudo dnf install libvirt-client sudo dnf install gnome-boxes
Did see a little mouse control & sound issue, however thats most likely a gnome-boxes issue I believe.
Other than those little issues, it worked fine. Its cool to see ol Core-1 running again... amazing how fast it is on modern hardware, even under libvirt & gnome boxes.
Will you fix the tarball and update readme.md before tuesday?

Good point. GNOME Boxes is standard on Workstation, but libvirt-client is not.

Yes, that's something with the virtual GPU or mouse inputs maybe? I can't figure out how to fix that.

Yes, I'll have an uploaded tarball in about 30 minutes.

The new tarball is up. Same URL: https://fedorapeople.org/~linkdupont/libvirt/fedora-core-1.tar.xz
It doesn't include a note about libvirt-client in the README, but it contains all the fixes so far. It should work just as the git repo does.
