Aleksandra pointed out to me that the Python change https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/PythonNoSemanticInterpositionSpeedup is a big deal. As we were talking about it, it occured to me that this would actually make a great whole article by itself, because of the way it changed from the earlier static-linking proposal based on community feedback. It's a great example of how community innovation really works, and how we get much better ideas and results with open development like this.
