Hi team,
I have this idea recurring a lot of times, because people normally ask: Why I buy a disk of 500 GB and I see less space in my system.
The general idea is to write a short article about what is the difference between KiB and KB, what means that a 500 GB disk is (from the manufacturer perspective) and what these 500 GB means in the OS.
I hope you like this idea.
Br,

If it includes some additional guidance on how to see these different numbers in action in Fedora, this would be a good article IMHO.
Hello,
If it includes some additional guidance on how to see these different numbers in action in Fedora, this would be a good article IMHO.
Well, I was thinking more on how to see these numbers in batch, it should apply to any distro, but I will work on Fedora, of course.

Although Blivet-GUI isn't necessarily Fedora specific, it's definitely very Fedora-connected, and this might be a good place to illustrate the difference with screenshots. The display shows GiB/MiB, but when you go to create new partitions, you can choose between GB/MB and GiB/MiB.

Br,
+1 to this idea as a pitch, along with the idea of seeing how you can see the difference in Fedora / Linux… in particular, I'd like to make sure we spend extra time thinking about SEO too, as this could be one that becomes a Google / search engine magnet.

Agreed.
Just to be clear about the Fedora bent -- we are the Fedora Magazine, not a generic Linux magazine. The Magazine exists not just to inform users but to also help us build the corpus of Fedora knowledge, and build the Fedora brand. So IMHO we should always think about how an article can demonstrate concepts in Fedora specifically.
That's why I requested finding a way to tie this general concept (GB/GiB) to something Fedora users can put their hands on. The Blivet idea is a good one!
