Hi Paul:
I'm having a bit of a hard time with the new Wordpress editor. It keeps auto- removing all the newlines in my pre-formatted text. It also removes the leading # from lines that I past into the pre-formatted block. I tried using the code tag instead, but that has problems rendering angle brackets (using the ASCII character gives an error and the HTML escape codes don't get translated).
I think disabling auto-correction in pre-formatted text blocks would be the best option. A quick google search seems to suggest that it is possible to do:

Would you mind looking into this?
Thanks.
Hi all,
I noticed the same. I absolutely dislike the new blocks editor.
Kind regards, Silvia FAS: Lailah

I can't reproduce this when I made a new article and pasted in text. I made a block, converted it to preformatted, and pasted in text including lines prefaced with # and $, and multiple newlines. When I preview the article things look as expected. Can you do a screencast showing the problem?

I was having a little trouble reproducing the newline deletion problem on a small test document. I didn't want to corrupt my current document again. Working in the code editor view seems to work-around the newline deletion problem, so I will be content with that for now.
You can look at my revision history to see where all the newlines were deleted in my mirror-your-system-drive article.
Thanks.

I was able to reproduce the newline deletion problem with a small document. It seems to happen when switching back and forth between the visual editor and the code editor:
https://send.firefox.com/download/d6327c00ee8653b4/#76fPqSenEoyPJDf_LYtEnA
I was switching between the two modes because of the hashtag deletion problem.
I think I know what to avoid now, so I guess it isn't as big of a deal, but it is very frustrating! It would be great if you could fix this.
Thanks.

I think I had the download count set to only 1 in the previous Firefox Send link. Sorry about that. Here it is re-uploaded with the download limit set to 100 and the time limit set to 7 days:
https://send.firefox.com/download/527755c37c619301/#X13M4WNYx3EbuX_q-N8xVw
At time index 4:20, I change "One" to "Ones" in the visual editor and that is when, after I click "save draft", all the newlines get deleted from the pre- formatted blocks.

I had this same problem in my HDYF article. I had to manually edit the generated HTML and it still auto-corrected it after that. It was frustrating. I would vote for disabling auto-correct in pre-formatted as well.
