To elaborate, "Install using QEMU" could either mean using virt-install or just a raw QEMU command to load a disk. I would like to demonstrate both,
DNF --installroot and kexec would work hand in hand. Kexec allows us to boot a new kernel without Bios, We would still need to load the new kernel with a package manager.

Hello Gregory,
If you want to shoot me the any resources about the topic at hand that you know of that would be awesome. Otherwise I'll need to do the research from scratch and that might take a little longer to do.
Thank you!

I haven't done much research. This was really an idea that a reader requested some time ago and I just never got around to writing up.
I'm not sure about your statement "DNF --installroot and kexec would work hand in hand." What I had in mind was two different things.
The "dnf --installroot" command would be similar to what I demonstrated earlier in "How to Build a Netboot Server, Part 1" ( https://fedoramagazine.org/how-to-build-a-netboot-server-part-1/) in the "Create the Netboot Image" section.
For kexec, I was think of something more along the lines of:
# INSTDISK=./Fedora-Workstation-Live-x86_64-30-1.2.iso # mount -o ro $INSTDISK /mnt # kexec -f /mnt/isolinux/vmlinux --append="root=live:CDLABEL=$(blkid -o value -s LABEL $INSTDISK) rd.live.image quiet" --initrd=/mnt/isolinux/initrd.img
I also gave a brief description of the QEMU method in the comments section of "Netboot a Fedora Live CD" (https://fedoramagazine.org/netboot-a-fedora-live-cd/ ). That is where the original idea for this article came from.
Good luck!

I just realized that that kexec call won't work the way I suggested. The filesystem needs to be locateable by its LABEL, so you would have to dd the iso to a separate partition first or something like that.
