FUDCon is always free to attend for anyone in the world.
For FUDCon KL, we are planning to use a mixed conference+barcamp
format. There will be 1 day of conference and 2 days of
barcamp/workshops.
The bid result will likely be decided on tomorrow, Thursday , 1st
March 2012 in a meeting by the Fedora Ambassador Steering Committee
(FAMSCo) . So tonight, we will be finalizing our bid document for
review by FAMSCo tomorrow.
Those who are interested to give input for the bid document, do attend
the meeting at :
channel: #fedora-my

If we win this bid. The event will happen on 18th - 20th May 2012 at APIIT.
Pre-submission and pre-registration is already open.
You can pre-register by adding your info here:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FUDCon:APAC_2012_Bid_Malaysia#Pre-registra...
pre-submission for talks/hackfests can be submitted by adding it here:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FUDCon:APAC_2012_Bid_Malaysia#Talks
Do show your support by pre-registering and submitting sessions and
see you tonight!

Fwd: APAC Fudcon Bids
by Mohd Izhar Firdaus Ismail
Ok guys .. what y'all think?...
this year or next year?
You can follow the thread here:
http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/fudcon-planning/2012-February/00...
---------- Forwarded message ----------
From: Robyn Bergeron <rbergero(a)redhat.com>
Date: Fri, Feb 24, 2012 at 9:14 PM
Subject: APAC Fudcon Bids
To: Fedora Ambassadors Steering Committee
<famsco(a)lists.fedoraproject.org>, FUDCon/FAD planning group
<fudcon-planning(a)lists.fedoraproject.org>
Hi folks,
I just wanted to raise a flag here.
In the FAmSCo meeting earlier this week it looks like there are a few
action items for people to forward information or share information
about the APAC bid recommendation. I have not yet seen any of that
information come forward.
The ticket is here:
https://fedorahosted.org/famsco/ticket/258
The known bids are here:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FUDCon:Bid_for_Philippines_2012
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FUDCon:APAC_2012_Bid_Malaysia
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FUDCon:Bid_for_Beijing_2012
The period tentatively scheduled for the APAC FUDcon is March 1 - May
31. I have *incredibly huge* concerns at this point about the ability
to successfully pull together planning details for a FUDCon in such a
short time frame, particularly with details like international travel,
visas and passports, etc., not to mention simply being able to arrange
hosting space, hotel blocks, etc. There are also the additional
efforts of going through the FUDCon subsidy process, purchasing
airfare (which tends to be cheaper the further in advance it is
purchased), etc.
I think we all realize that FUDCons require a large amount of effort;
additionally, they get a large amount of funding, and I know that we
would all like to ensure that that money is well-used. If we can't
come to a decision on the location within the next week, we may need
to take under consideration the option of deferring the APAC FUDCon
until Mar-May of 2013. I don't think this would be a huge loss,
considering that we just had a FUDCon in Pune a few months ago. And
while I don't want to disappoint the people who have been working on
bids, I don't want us to wind up in a position where we are
disappointing a large number of people who are investing their time in
attending a FUDCon by putting on an event that we simply didn't have
enough time to organize well, or disappoint the Fedora community by
not wisely spending money.
So, please: If there is information, or a recommendation, that needs
to be passed to FAmSCo, please pass it along including any supporting
logs, etc. *as soon as possible*, so that people can familiarize
themselves with the details and be prepared to make a recommendation
or decision. I'll be attending the FAmSCo meeting to get as much
information as I can as well to make the final call.
-Robyn

ATTN!!!! : Fwd: [Ambassadors] FUDCon APAC: Emergency meeting

Subject: [Ambassadors] FUDCon APAC: Emergency meeting
To: ambassadors(a)lists.fedoraproject.org
Hey folks,
** ATTENTION AMBASSADORS **
If you haven't already, please read Robyn's mail to the fudcon-planning
list[1] stressing that the APAC FUDCon will need to be deferred to next
year if a decision is not made quickly. It makes perfect sense, since
the period for FUDCon APAC is March 1 - May 31, which is almost upon us,
leaving us hardly any time to organize the event.
We'd like to call an emergency meeting tomorrow at 0400UTC (Sunday, 26th
February 0400UTC at #fedora-meeting) with only one agenda in mind: "Make
a concrete recommendation to FAmSCo on FUDCon APAC". If we fail to
decide on a location, the default recommendation is "Defer to 2013
cycle".
date -d 'Sun 26 Feb 2012 0400 UTC'
** ATTENTION BID OWNERS **
If you are the owner of one of the bids[3],[4],[5], it is imperative you
attend this meeting to market your bid. Please do also go through your
bid pages and add all the information you can, up to date.
** MAKING YOUR RECOMMENDATION **
I've also created a wiki page here[2] that you can use to submit your
recommendations. Please try to attend the meeting, if you cannot, you
are welcome to make a recommendation on the list here or to use the
wiki.
All of this should've been done much earlier, but it still isn't too
late. Please try to have your recommendations in by 26th Feb 2359UTC
date -d 'Sun 26 Feb 2012 2359 UTC'
