As per what have been discussed on yesterday:
1) We are going to do a cafe meet up on a biweekly basis. Agenda for
these meetups can be discussions, knowledge sharing, meetings, event
organizing, or just plain chat over some drinks. Objectives of the
biweekly meetup is to provide an informal platform to break the ice
between newcomers and existing contributors, and allow community to
grow naturally.
2) On a quarterly basis, starting from 2016 (or maybe this quarter),
we may organize talks where there are speakers speaking on specific
topics. We have yet to decide on what are the topics Fedora. My will be
focusing on, as that requires a discussion on our core goals first.
3) There are some idea raised by Gurdip on running activities such as
Fedora Test Day, and also Fedora Release Party. Lets see how this can
be executed. IMO, release parties can have talks on new features on
Fedora, and Test Day will be a workshop on installing Alpha / Beta /
Rawhide releases and identify any bugs on the softwares bundled in
Fedora. This should fit well with our quarterly plan where quarter 2 &
quarter 4 would have release parties, and quarter 1 and quarter 3 can
be Test Days. We will, of course, need a hall environment for release
events, and a lab environment for test days.

Thanks for those who attended the previous meetup, finally we get 5 of
our core people on one table after 2 years of being dormant. So now to
schedule for next meet up.
Event details here:
https://www.facebook.com/events/974711692587675/
Date: 17th October 2015
Time: 13:00-15:00
Location: Quizinn Food Court, NuSentral
Agenda:
Regular meetup for catching up, knowledge sharing and discussions.
Some things we might want to discuss this time is to figure out what
the new Fedora Malaysia mission would be. ie. our Raison D'etre
(purpose of existence)
As we all are aware, the market have changed considerably these past
several years for Open Source and Free Software. Using Open Source
software is pretty much a norm today, so our traditional advocacy
activities to get people to adopt open source and fedora is no longer
relevant today. Cloud hosted applications and services slowly making
desktop workstation as irrelevant, and server-side infrastructure is
slowly being taken over by IaaS.
We need a new direction, something that will keep us relevant in the
market today.
But of course, our goals should always align back to parent
organization's purpose, which is:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Overview#Our_Mission
""""
The Fedora Project's mission is to lead the advancement of free and
open source software and content as a collaborative community.
The three elements of this mission are clear:
- The Fedora Project always strives to lead, not follow.
- The Fedora Project consistently seeks to create, improve, and spread
free/libre code and content.
- The Fedora Project succeeds through shared action on the part of
many people throughout our community.
""""
For those who are not aware, around the end of last year, our parent
organization have gone through restructuring under Fedora.Next
initiative, which split Fedora into 5 working groups, with each
working groups having their own specialized builds of Fedora. These
changes was made to ensure continued relevance of Fedora in the global
Open Source community. However, this have yet to be reflected in APAC,
where we have more advocates rather than developers.
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora.next
Take your time to think, and let bash each other on the next meetup ^^

Hi Gurdip,
I am not very familiar with Ampang. I am ok with most places but I do
hate most multi national eating/drinking places for their junk food or
generally bad business practices with regard to their workers or the
environment.
Sorry, that's just me.
cheers,
Rosli
