Hi. I just finish designing this Guidebook. Hope you guys like it. Any suggestion are welcomed.
P/S: I prefer this guidebook to be printed in a A6 size for each page (pocket-sized guidebook)
The Guidebook already uploaded here: http://jurankdankkal.fedorapeople.org/FUDConKLGuidebookForDummies.pdf

Hi Dean,
Thanks! ..
However, some changes:
1 - could you compact this to 1 or 2 pages of A4? .. Considering we are going to email this to the attendees, where they will be printing this on their own, its better to keep the size normal ..
2 - LRT BTS -> Bukit Jalil rm 00 ??
3 - the for-dummies title .. when i goes through the whole doc quickly, i dont really think its for dummies .. its presenting quite a raw data where unless you have some background in visiting malaysia, you might get a bit confused reading that guidebook .. add some paragraphs to help in giving background information .. write it as if you are writing an email to give directions to a person ...

What Dean actually think while doing this is that, it's don in A4 size to retain the readability quality while read it on the PC but when printed, it can be printed as two-pages per sheet. So, when printed out all of it in Booklet format, the output will be 2 pages (A4 front/back) full print.
2 - LRT BTS -> Bukit Jalil rm 00 ??
Basically, we don't know the exact fare from BTS to Bukit Jalil itself. We try to memorize it but since we a a Tn'G big fan, so swapping the card is quite addictive to us, and while we do that, we never care about the reload deduction LOL Anyhow, can someone provide us that detail?
3 - the for-dummies title .. when i goes through the whole doc quickly, i dont really think its for dummies .. its presenting quite a raw data where unless you have some background in visiting malaysia, you might get a bit confused reading that guidebook .. add some paragraphs to help in giving background information .. write it as if you are writing an email to give directions to a person ...
Erm, the 'For Dummies' is not about touring around KL but actually specifically refer to the reader who are about to go to the Event itself but don't know the way to the place. We try to avoid from putting too much words in there to avoid crowded contents. And it's not a raw data; I revised from many sites and turn it into points to ease the travellers.
Some of content that will added to make it more content-full is the Tips. Lie for instance the USD-MYR exchange.

A5 for screen readibility ? .. the smallest text is bigger than my H1 size when viewing full-width
xD ..
imo, A4 is more convenient ... unless you arrange the pages in such a way, when you print it, it become proper guidebook ..
that is, Page 1, Page 4 in 1 page A4 ... and Page 2, Page 3 in another A4 page ..
however, that'll cause confusion for screen reading ..
3 - the for-dummies title .. when i goes through the whole doc quickly, i dont really think its for dummies .. its presenting quite a raw data where unless you have some background in visiting malaysia, you might get a bit confused reading that guidebook .. add some paragraphs to help in giving background information .. write it as if you are writing an email to give directions to a person ...

its raw :-) .. just list of train and list of taxis .. without background instructions .. if you've been in KL before, yes, its easily understood, but i doubt someone who totally new can understand it ..
so, add some instructional text on how to get to the venue rather than just the raw data .. write it as if you are giving vocal instructions ..
and perhaps send it to an Indonesian friend who never been in Malaysia, to see whether they can understand what the guidebook trying to convey .. take note that someone who never been here doesnt know what is KL Transit, what is KL Express, what is Bukit Jalil, what are Maxis, Celcom, Digi ..
also, its KLIA transit/express .. not KL transit/express
also, it is not clear in the transit map on where they should be heading to (bukit jalil) .. add instructions for that ..
Some of content that will added to make it more content-full is the Tips. Lie for instance the USD-MYR exchange.
rather than exchange, tell them the amount of cash in MYR they should bring over so that they can get to the venue
also .. check out
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FUDCon:KualaLumpur_2012#Travel_Information
read the section "Getting to the venue" .. write something with similar tone like that for the instructional paragraphs
you'll also need the information on power adapter and voltage ..
also, figure out if theres other stuff which a foreigner should know before they arrive in KL , to make it easier for them to get around ..
you'll also need the information about the hotel they will be staying .. and how to get there ..

@Yogi i think the map can be removed, and replace it with the venue floor layout.The session list can be made nicer i think.
@Dean, overall it looks ok ... but can you switch to use cover3.svg (cover.pdf) from Yogi's gudebook design for the cover?
Thanks to both of you! :D

Hey.
Here's the latest changes made to the Guidebook for Foreigner. It's marginalized narrowly and we cannot change the whitespaces already as it's made that way. But we already change the cover to a newer one.

some more changes:
1 ) I noticed that theres 2 Welcome To Kuala Lumpur (KL) ... Change that to "Touchdown at KLIA" and "Touchdown at KLIA-LCCT" ..
2) remove that "upon touchdown .." sentence
3) at the end of the sentence "This direction will bring ..... " add "from KLIA" and "from KLIA-LCCT" accordingly ..
4) Contact Person section, put it above "Emergency" as thats more important, though i think we need another name there ... any suggestions?
5) Hotel/Accommodation, they will all stay in Sri Petaling anyway, change that section with a sentence that says "you will be staying at...." and put address+phone of hotel sri petaling so that its easy for them to grab taxi if needed
6) Power plug, add this link .. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BS_1363
7) "as they provide lower rate" .. change that to as "as they provide poorer rate"
besides those .. thats it i guess ...

1 - could you compact this to 1 or 2 pages of A4? .. Considering we
are going to email this to the attendees, where they will be printing this on their own, its better to keep the size normal ..
What Dean actually think while doing this is that, it's don in A4 size to retain the readability quality while read it on the PC but when printed, it can be printed as two-pages per sheet. So, when printed out all of it in Booklet format, the output will be 2 pages (A4 front/back) full print.
2 - LRT BTS -> Bukit Jalil rm 00 ??
