idea! - Fedora Marketing Book Club
by Robyn Bergeron
Greg's blog post today
(http://gregdekspeaks.wordpress.com/2010/01/27/fedoras-goals/) has
rekindled (no amazon pun intended, i swear!) a thought I had a while
back on starting a marketing book club. Mchua and I had discussed it
a bit on irc sometime late last year, but I think we were focused on
something else at the time, and the idea was lost.
Until now! I would like to propose that we have a "book club" for
marketing-reading-material, but of course, not limited to marketing
team members.
The basics of what I'm thinking are:
* We start with a book in March. One book per month - at the end of
each month, we have an IRC discussion on what we've learned, and how
we can apply it to Fedora and what we're working on. Hopefully,
everyone will want to do things like blog about what they've read and
learned, or write about it to the fedora-mktg mailing list, or add a
review to the book club wiki.
* Everyone is welcome to join. Nobody is -required- to join.
* Books are on our own individual dime (books are good for you! better
than coffee!) - we should do our best to pick things that are likely
available at the library (ie: not just freshly released last week).
If budget for a book is a problem and it can't be found, we should try
to accommodate people so they can participate.
The goal here (yes, I bang that goal drum a lot!) is to increase our
collective knowledge about All Things Marketing, provide a forum for
discussing what we've learned, and provide us with some brainstorming
and inspiration on things we can do to improve Marketing.
Thoughts? Feedback? :) I've made a wiki page to get the ball rolling
- hopefully we can work out the minor details (things like, "I have no
clue how to run a book club discussion, do you?") between now and
March. This is meant to be fun / enriching - not MORE WORK! - so I
hope people are interested, and if anyone thinks that one book a month
is too much, please say so.

Feature Profiles :: NetworkManager
by Nelson Marques
As most will know, I've got assigned with the NetworkManager Feature
Profiles. To accomplish this, I would like to point the following:
This is where I'm going to gather all the information I've collected.
This is not in any way a final version or something that will remain for
long. This is basically for me to work out a structure and later on will
move the reviewed contents to the final destination that someone will
provide me (Mel et all, could provide some input for the right place and
designation for this?).
Furthermore:
* The screenshots are not definitive, it's just a caption of things I
found relevant and might change depending on the interviews.
* I will use this very same page to work the raw interview material
(edited). Anyone has a though about where to place the un-edited
material for later usage if needed ?
* The screenshots do not hold valid information. No need to camp my
house door for free internet, or to worry about something regarding it's
information.
* I've taken the screenshots on Fedora 12, with a vanilla user, using
the vanilla pre-set artwork (GNOME + GTK Fedora Theme + Default pointer,
etc).
* Everyone is free to participate and edit (specially english native
speakers, since English isn't my native language).
* Any suggestions will be considered (most likely added/reviewed), I've
kept a special place (end of page) for anyone's suggestions.
Working on:
- Gathering background information regarding NetworkManager.
- Preparing Interviews for developers.
- wiki skills.
As always feel free to highlight and participate with comments,
suggestions, information, critics and whatever you find relevant.
Thanks all for surviving this wall of text.

Call for help/ideas: Beta announcement, briefing Ambassadors
by Mel Chua
From the meeting today:
We need someone to work with Docs (likely tomorrow night?) to write the
Beta announcement - any volunteers? Support and a howto can be
provided[0]. ;)
We also need to figure out what we would like to do to brief Ambassadors
this round. An incredibly stubby stub page for this is up at
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/F13_Ambassadors_briefing - if you have
any thoughts, please add them here. I'll be taking a second pass
tomorrow, but right now I'm drawing an utter blank.
Any takers? These are both great things for new folks to get started
with (the second one is particularly good for people who are experienced
Ambassadors, but new to Marketing).

screenshots - some doubts.
by Nelson Marques
I runed across some operational doubts regarding possible screenshots.
* Do I need to run Clearlooks / Fedora vanilla theming for the
screenshots?
* I would like to keep my screenshot coherent with everyone else's work
on another features.
Enlighten me plz on this.
Nelson.

Limesurvey - Update
by Robyn Bergeron
Hello Friends,
I've decided that the best thing to do at this point in time is to put
limesurvey on the backburner until (1) F13 is out the door, and (2)
Until Fedora Insight is out the door. I was hoping to have a meeting
of "next steps" prior to F13 release (as you may have seen in a
previous email) just so we could at least have a task list of "what to
do" so we can be off and running; but with so many of our
Infrastructure / Marketing multi-tasking awesome folks working on FI,
I think it's best to just wait to worry about next steps until we're
more freed up with time.
That said: I know that Ryan, Nelson, and David are all continuing to
plug away on the remaining packages that are needed for limesurvey,
and I hope they continue to do so - it's hard to move onto the 'next
steps of Limesurvey deployment' until these packages are resolved.
And with that, I'd like to take a moment and thank all three of you,
along with anyone else who has been working on packaging for
Limesurvey (I'm not forgetting you intentionally!), PROFUSELY, for all
the work you have been doing. I realize that the packaging on this
particularly piece of infrastructure has been anything but easy, and I
want you to know that your efforts are not in vain - we WILL be
plowing forward on this once Fedora Insight is deployed, which should
be in conjunction with the F13 launch. Seriously: I owe you folks
cookies (even if some of you, *cough cough* David, doubt the existence
of cookies *grin*).
I'll be taking this off our meeting schedule and setting it as an F14
"big to-do" in Trac, so we don't use cycles on discussion during
meeting time... but by all means, if you are moving ahead or fixing
things or making packages or, in general, doing magic with Limesurvey,
feel free to update the wiki and mail the marketing list - we would
all love to hear about forward progress (or alternately, major
blocking problems with packaging!).
Rock on,
Robyn

Info Request - music contents
by Nelson Marques
Anyone could provide me with some websites that provide artistic musical
content that complies with our licences ?
This is just for a small test I'm doing with KDEnlive (don't mock the
GNOME user that uses KDE stuff).
