We often get inquiries from magazines asking for permission to bundle one
or more Fedora discs with a future issue. This is a fairly routine
process as long as the disc is an unmodified copy of Fedora media (i.e. an
official release). Some interaction with Red Hat Legal is required to
send out an agreement to the magazine.
We can speed up that interaction and the overall process if we have a page
that tells magazines what they need to provide, and to whom, for a
covermount agreement. Generally we need the following information, sent
to the ''press(a)fp.o'' address:
* The name (d/b/a) and address of the company producing the magazine
* The exact disc(s) that are to be bundled
* Contact information for the person making the request

I had suggested this earlier to Robyn -- a press blog entry for Red Hat's
PR channel (http://press.redhat.com) that would synopsize and point to our
interview on the wiki. However, Robyn's pretty busy right now. Kara
Schiltz from Red Hat's PR department is willing to publish something next
week.
I'm going to pick this up and drive it forward, my way of helping this
week on something Marketing related!

Hi,
Could we have a press-release for FUDCon KL 2012 which is happening this
May?. We are planning to distribute it to local newspapers and news sites.
We are originally planning to produce our own but FPL said that marketing
might want to do and approve it.
In term of dateline, .. erm .. is 27th March too short?, or more than
enough?. The earlier the better of course
Thanks.

Self-Introduction: Steven Shaffer
by Steven Shaffer
Hi, my name is Steven Shaffer and I live in Gilbert, Arizona, U.S.A.
My Fedora Account System (FAS) username is stevenbshaffer, and my IRC
nick is N/A (Yet!)
I learned about the Fedora Marketing team through Robyn "first female
leader" Bergeron, and am interested in joining because I am a geek
with Marketing talent who loves open-source.
This is the first FOSS project I have worked on though I'm quite
familiar with many OSS projects. Some of the projects I've worked on,
or communities I've been involved with, include ...(None yet, this is
the first.)
I've worked in Marketing in the past, I have roughly 10 yrs
experience. Some of the projects I've worked on, or roles I've had,
include: Marketing Manager, Marketing Communications Manager, Product
Manager, Marketing Consultant, Director of Marketing, Product
Marketing consultant, Market Research Analyst, Copywriter, Social
Media Manager, blah, blah, for companies ranging from Fortune 500 to
startup
My skills, which I hope to utilize in Fedora Marketing, include all the above
I'd also like to learn why marketing for open source projects other
than Wordpress stinks so bad in general.
When I'm not working on Fedora, I am (currently) a marketing
consultant for small businesses and studying database programming and
web development at Mesa Community College in Mesa, AZ.
A couple of goals I have for the Fedora Project are...to create a
couple of goals for the Fedora Project. I would also like to see
something awesome (any ideas?) happen in Fedora.
I am wondering about how I can... help Fedora's Marketing rock!
Sorry this is such a lifeless intro. Truly I'm usually much more dynamic!
Steve
