Fedora Fliers
by Jiri Eischmann
Hi,
I've decided to organize production of Fedora fliers for specific target
groups because that's something I'd like to have for events at least in
EMEA.
I've already spoken with Matt Miller about a "Fedora in the cloud" flier
and he promised he would help me create the content.
I'm also thinking about other fliers:
Fedora for developers
Ruby on Fedora
Python on Fedora
...
The fliers shouldn't be overly informative. They should simply convey
several clear points why the target group should use Fedora and what
benefits Fedora can offer them. And a link to somewhere they can find
more information, download Fedora.
I think it's a kind of project that is much more effective to do in
person, so it would IMHO be a great idea for a Flock session where
developers from respective fields, designers, and people involved in
Fedora marketing can sit down and come up with something useful.
Anyone is going to Flock and would be willing to participate in such a
session?
Jiri

We often get inquiries from magazines asking for permission to bundle one
or more Fedora discs with a future issue. This is a fairly routine
process as long as the disc is an unmodified copy of Fedora media (i.e. an
official release). Some interaction with Red Hat Legal is required to
send out an agreement to the magazine.
We can speed up that interaction and the overall process if we have a page
that tells magazines what they need to provide, and to whom, for a
covermount agreement. Generally we need the following information, sent
to the ''press(a)fp.o'' address:
* The name (d/b/a) and address of the company producing the magazine
* The exact disc(s) that are to be bundled
* Contact information for the person making the request

I had suggested this earlier to Robyn -- a press blog entry for Red Hat's
PR channel (http://press.redhat.com) that would synopsize and point to our
interview on the wiki. However, Robyn's pretty busy right now. Kara
Schiltz from Red Hat's PR department is willing to publish something next
week.
I'm going to pick this up and drive it forward, my way of helping this
week on something Marketing related!

Hi,
Could we have a press-release for FUDCon KL 2012 which is happening this
May?. We are planning to distribute it to local newspapers and news sites.
We are originally planning to produce our own but FPL said that marketing
might want to do and approve it.
In term of dateline, .. erm .. is 27th March too short?, or more than
enough?. The earlier the better of course
Thanks.

Introduction
by Chris A. Roberts
Hi, my name is Chris Roberts and I live in Toledo, Ohio. EST Timezone. My Fedora Account System (FAS) username is chrisroberts, and my IRC nick is croberts.
I learned about the Fedora Marketing team through the wiki page and through Fedora IRC chat, and am interested in joining because I enjoy spreading the word about Fedora and contributing any way I can. I am currently part of the Fedora Docs project and love it. I enjoy contributing in that way, I would like to be able to branch out and help make people aware of Fedora as well.
This is the first Marketing project I have worked on, and I am looking to learn and help where needed.
My skills, which I hope to utilize in Fedora Marketing, include:
(Marketing Skills) - Good people and customer service skills, friendly and outgoing Knowledge of how to get articles published with some of the local free press newspapers around Toledo and the surrounding suburbs.
(Other Skills) - Good general knowledge of Fedora, and willingness to learn.
I would like to learn any skills that could help me be a better contributor to the Fedora Marketing Project.
When I'm not working on Fedora, I am currently attending University of Toledo to obtain my bachelors in Computer Science. I also work at a local ISP providing technical support. A couple of people at my work have shown interest in starting a Linux group for Toledo, and we are looking to focus on Fedora.
One of the goals I have for the Fedora Project are to get more user awareness in the public. When talking to people just in general about Linux the distro that usually comes up is Ubuntu. When asking if they have tried Fedora, most reply back with I have heard about it but never tried it. I then go on to tell them about our community and different reasons why they should try it. Most people I have talked to about Fedora, who went and installed it, have made the switch.
Please help me get started!
Thanks,
Chris Roberts
