F21 media

Hi, yesterday in FAmSCo, we started a discussion what media we should produce for F21. We have been producing Multidesktop Live DVD for many releases, but with the Fedora.Next changes we need to revisit it. In FAmSCo, we've pretty much agreed that Multidesktop Live DVD is not very aligned with the Fedora.Next initiative where we want to emphasize the official products and those products should be delivered as clear offerings all the way to the users. Merging them with other spins means that the clear product offering is lost before it reaches the users. Although Multidesktop Live DVD is economically the best solution, it is not from the marketing perspective and doesn't deliver the message of Fedora.Next products. Suggestions that have come up at the meeting: * the Cloud product doesn't really need a DVD media, * having one DVD with Workstation and Server Products, * having separate DVDs with Workstation and Server, * creating additional DVD with other flavors of Fedora (other desktops, many other specialized spins?) if there is enough interest and demand. Christoph Wickert is going to bring it up on the workstation and server group mailing lists and I'd like to start the discussion here because this is very related to marketing. Opinions? :) Jiri P.S. we also discussed replacing DVDs with usb flash drives. As much as we'd love to offer flash drives instead of DVDs it's still not a viable option because flash drives are still 10x more expensive than DVDs. Not much has changed there in the last two years :/

Fedora 21 Deliverables

Hi all, I know we have touched on this briefly in other threads and IRC meetings, but should we work on making a solid plan for the marketing strategy for Fedora 21? I am not a "marketing person" per-say and havent been involved in helping to market previous releases, so i am a little unsure how this plan should look. But in my head, it should contain the deliverables we want to produce (or get produced by other teams), and how we distribute those, and promote them also. There are a few tickets open in the marketing queue that cover deliverables, but is this all we are going to create? I was also thinking a "press kit" might be a good idea that we can deliver to tech blogs and news outlets too. Also, for the formal press release, are we planning on making it formal? Or something more like has been done in the past that is more light and joke filled [2]? Also is the release announcement and a press release the same thing? or do we want to create separate deliverables for these? Introducing myself

Hi all, I just wanted to introduce myself to the list and extend an offer of an extra pair of hands! I'm a Network Manager but have worked widely in the web design and marketing arenas. I'd really like to get involved in a project that the team is working on, or at least see if I can contribute to any discussions regarding new initiatives! Is there anything obviously needed at the moment? Anything I can help with for the F21 release? Also, is there any regular meetings I should/Could attend? Many thanks in advance! Matt

See https://fedorahosted.org/famsco/ticket/373 The idea is to transform FAmSCo into Fedora Outreach Steering Committee, representing and coordinating Ambassadors, Marketing, Design Team (which is responsible for branding), and support efforts like Ask Fedora and even Documentation and Web. It would also include areas of the new Fedora.next Working Groups which touch on these areas — branding, marketing, conference attendance in support of a particular product, and etc. (Not to _rule_ them, but to coordinate and enable.) Hi there, You may already know, a new top-level community leadership and governance body, Fedora Council [0], is on its way. One important aspect of this is an "Outreach Representative", which asked to be selected by FAmSCo. And FPL has had some initial messages [1] on ambassadors list to get it started. Since Outreach is much larger in scope than Ambassadors, in the last FAmSCo meeting [2], we decided to forward this to other teams to nominate more good candidates. Please discuss this within your team.
