[Magazine] Screenshots for desktop articles
by Paul W. Frields
It's often hard to find screenshots for alternate desktops that are
clearly licensed for reuse (we require something like CC-0, CC-BY, or
CC-BY-SA to ensure we can use them).
If you do a review or how-to article for a desktop environment, please
consider making a screenshot to submit with the article. A medium
resolution is usually best, something like 1280x800 or 1440x900. Have
a couple applications running on screen, but with enough "empty" space
to see the desktop environment itself.
Hope this helps.

Fedora Social Media Proposal
by Brian Proffitt
All:
In the meeting on IRC yesterday, I referenced a proposal that I had sent to
the project last September (I believe). I am resending the document here,
having updated it to include information on the Fedora Community Blog.
If you like, I can place this on the Fedora wiki for broader
consumption/dissemination. Forgive me for not knowing the proper channels
for such document publication.
Peace,
Brian

Initial Owncloud update draft - as discussed at recent meeting
by James Hogarth
I've put the draft in place to get the text off my laptop ;)
It's obviously in a fairly rough and ready form right now with editorial
passes for readibility required along with a bunch of formatting and images
needed...
Just wanted to make sure it was in a location other than a laptop ;)
https://fedoramagazine.org/?p=12193&preview_id=12193
No surprise that $life got in the way over the weekend so I've not got to
testing the F22 and F23 updates for 8.1.5 yet - but I do plan that during
the course of next week.
There's no pressure on our side (eg security issues) to push these so it's
trivial to time the FM article (or CommBlog) with these to ensure our users
get the exposure on the updates.
Cheers,
James

Pretty sure we discussed this pretty heavily in IRC and in the CommOps
meeting, but this is seriously *awesome* data that tells a fantastic
story of Fedora's impact at FOSDEM over the past three years. I think
your report is something everyone in the Project should at least look
over to see the kind of stories that can be told with our existing
infrastructure, like Badges and fedmsg (looking forward to taking a look
at BrickHack next)!
I'm CCing a few extra lists for this reply:
* Ambassadors: Great read to see how we can measure impact at events and
justify an event from a budget perspective by finding a way to turn the
"people interactions" into quantifiable data
* Social Media / Marketing: This would be a great thing to highlight on
the official Fedora feeds. I'm going to post it to /r/Fedora on Reddit
and the Telegram announcement group momentarily. Getting this on
Facebook / Twitter / Google+ would be a great thing to do!
If anyone from these other lists has feedback on the actual article or
wants to discuss it further, please make sure you reply to the CommOps
list to prevent cross-posting across the lists.
Thanks everyone!
