The real reason why I came up with the "fedoraLife" concept is to have a "Fedora Studio" spin established that either has the "fedoraLife" suite that enhances already established software OR puts the already established software "front and center." So people who work in multimedia can access their tools quickly and easily. So, people, let's see if we ALL can make this happen...

There are some *real* ways to make it happen: - join the Fedora Art list and help with getting the Art Studio spin built; - find some more useful applications and package them for Fedora (the same about fonts and clipart); - work with *upstream* projects producing those applications (like PiTiVi) and help them improve so we automatically get in Fedora better tools.
I fear that ranting here and replying with "+1" is not of much use...

There are two promissing projects that are trying to resussect Diva project that failed :( Diva was a really promising simple video editor. Check the background story [1] and my post with video screencast of Diva and additiona links [2].
There are two projects; saya-videoeditor [3] and myvideoeditor [4]
Anybody with coding experience is encoraged to joint those projects.

saya currently relies on the OpenVIP media framework..which uses ffmpeg. the reliance on ffmpeg makes its nearly impossible to include in Fedora. I can not stress this enough, applications which have compile time dependencies on ffmpeg will be difficult to place in Fedora. Unless someone figures out how to patch out the encumbered technologies in ffmpeg, we can't ship ffmpeg. And even if we did find a way to patch out everything we can't distribute, it may not be worth doing because we would be in effect shipping a significantly crippled ffmpeg library since ffmpeg does not understand the concept of pluggable runtime codec support.
Its a real shame, if we could ship a limited version of ffmpeg which support unencumbered codec technologies we would have the ability to ship versions of several multimedia frameworks and applications. But the way ffmpeg is structured as a project and a codebase, makes its difficult to safely work with.

why cant we use another free video format that doesn't have this kind of trouble..

We use, the format is Ogg Theora and it is free. The problem is *the tools*. The tools for editing Theora videos are... let's say immature. There are out there a larger number of tools which can also edit Theora videos, but they are intended primarily for other formats (and sometime work internally using those formats), which are not free.

I know, but what about make our own OGG editing tool ? something like FedoraMovie, or something like that.. :D

First: *who?* Who are the developers supposed to create this tool? You?
And second: *why?* You know, this is Open Source... if the application is good everyone will include it and you, the developer, will want patched from everyone.

I can help develp this, but obviously I cant do this by my own, dont we have a developers list ? why cant they help us out ? :)

Now exactly, I managed a team who develop only oper-source stuff, kind'a get used to it, and I don't see any problem with the developing a good tool and everybody uses thing.. this is the way thing oper-source works, I think.. we develop a good tool everybody likes it, uses it and modify it, the fact that this tool theorically will be released on GNU license, makes it pretty sure clear that we developed the tool, and released the codes and ww want the credits for it, as GNU says you have to give the original developer their credit to.. I think it's pretty much a metter of well spent time and some codding, from we get what we want, the so called FedoraMovie, or something like that...
