Hello All,
At the beta readiness meeting on Wednesday, I brought up the discussion
of us working with Art and Docs in a closer fashion. One of the things
we came up with, courtesy of mizmo was that we have yet to decide on a
slogan for F11. This is prime marketing real estate, and we have a
chance to come up with something great.
What I suggest is that we brainstorm first by coming up with some key
words and building from that. What is the message we want to convey for
this release? We already have some things which are ironclad (like the
four foundations), but lets see what we can come up with.
I threw up a quick and dirty wiki page at
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Marketing/F11_Release_Slogan . I don't
know what this will end up looking like, but I figure we will have
discussion on here and that those ideas should be spelled out on the
wiki as well so we can draw from them all. Put in the key words at the
top and then use the rest as a scratch space.
The slogan really is the all-encompassing message for the release so we
need to put our thinking caps on. I'm sure Paul, et. al. will offer
some guidance, but otherwise, show me what you got.

We no longer use hierarchical directory-type names for pages on the
wiki. Please save names directly to a plain English name, without
title caps case. In this case, a good name would just be
"F11_release_slogan". That's the accepted standard, per our wiki
czar, and it makes the title more easily searchable. You can then
categorize the page by adding [[Category:Marketing]] at the bottom,
which accomplishes the same goal of grouping like pages together.
When you name pages in this way, note that you also don't need to
include a header in the page text with the title again. I've moved
the page to this new name:

I put a really bad example in the page just so it wouldn't look so
empty. I also added some themes. Historically, we've used a slogan
that complements the artistic theme of the release. I don't see any
reason not to do that again. I've put in a candidate to kick things
off. Add your thoughts to the page:

I was trying to work in the concept Ian Weller introduced in one of
his recent blog posts of deeply meaningful phases constructed from
contradicting elements as a general meme for Fedora release slogans.
Along those lines would be a slogan like this :

I like freedom to innovate. It's short and catchy and doesn't sound

Maybe it's just me but "tradition" sounds like an over-used word (mostly
in
bakery products :D).
"Picture Perfect" short and punchy, I like it but it doesn't really say
anything related to the brief or Fedora or...
I like the "11/heaven" rhyme, yet I'm not sure about using "11".
After "9-"
it might have a strange sound to it.
"A code of freedom" - I don't know what movie it's about but it makes
sense.
For the end user dough features are important not the code. And for code as
in "code of honour" we need to change the temple in the artwork with some
round table knights castle. But I like it. A lot. "A code of freedom" - even
sounds good.
Rahul's "Friends of Freedom" has 2 of the 4F's(*). This is a very good
start
already. If it doesn't sound gay "Friendly Freedom" might became the base
of
a good slogan. "Friendly Freedom Akademia" ;)
(*)I'm sorry if somebody gets offended by "4F" - it's a loosing battle.
Short of life threats, anybody would say 4F's instead of 4 Foundations -
that's how language works.

I wanted to add:
Freedom continues.
However ... I am not able to log into the slogan page. Maybe I don't
have the right role or som'n.

Notes/reasoning:
Freedom continues over time (comparing ancient times to now), and
freedom is one of the key words, and I can imagine that the artwork is
free (open spaces, etc.) and continues (the mountains, sky, etc. don't
just end after the artwork; they themselves continue ... one could imagine).
BONUS possibility:
If we 'animated' the slogan Freedom continues. Then the F is in Fedora,
1 is in the 'd' in freedom and the other 1 is in the 't' in continues.
F 1 1
Freedom Continues
... of course, that's if you wanted to 'transform' F11 into the slogan.
