Release Overview

Hey,

We should probably start working on this soon to make sure it's in
good shape for the final release?

I think the work already done on the beta release notes is a great
foundation, it probably just needs tidying up a bit and updating here
and there.

Is this going in the SSS?

A while back, I added a note to the release notes overview and a link to

We should probably highlight the major new features here. I would reuse 
a lot of your recent blog post but also expand on the many other 
features in the last para a bit more. That would a pretty good release 
summary. Highlight the USP's first but also any new improvement gets a 
place in there too.

Is anyone going to update

I just came across it while stubbing out some pages for Fedora 10 and it 
hasn't been touched since November 2007.

If we decide not to use it I think it should be deleted so it is not a 
distraction.

I've got a feeling this is coming from the SSS this time - if that's
not the plan then I will update it, probably over this weekend or
beginning of next week...

I've just had a brief go-over the Release Overview on the
SingleSoureSummary page. I dumped the content from the beta releases
and have tidied and trimmed it.

It still needs a bit more tidying in places (think the kernel
section!) but I'll get there eventually. If anyone else wants to take
a look at this, feel free :)

What do people think? Is more trimming needed in order to make it more
of an "overview"?

In "NetworkManager Improvements" - It might be nice to highlight 
Fedora developer and NetworkManager developer Dan Williams in this 
section, as you have done for other Fedora/upstream developers in the 
GNOME section.

In "Anaconda Installer Improvements":

I don't think you need "iamanext4developer" to try ext4 anymore.  I 
believe it has changed to an "ext4" option instead.

boot.iso in the end didn't get nuked--too many things depended on the 
filename "boot.iso".  So actually, what was going to be netinst.iso is 
now named boot.iso.

In "Upstart Init Daemon" - customization to inittab EXCEPT initdefault 
need to be ported over.  In the end, it was decided to have F9 use 
/etc/inittab for just the initdefault line.


Down in the "Features" section, some of the above changes also need to 
be made again.  There is a reference to netboot.iso.

Sortof.  rescue.iso which used to live in the isos/ directory is now
named *-netinst.iso and is in reality a hardlink to images/boot.iso.
