I made a change to the Magazine settings -- after 30 days, posts now are closed to comments. Although it hasn't happened much, a recent comment on a very old article reminded me to look at this setting.
Articles don't always age gracefully, and we don't want to create the expectation that authors must deal with that issue forever once they contribute an article.
This change is easy to revert (checkbox) if there's a huge difference of opinion on the setting!

+1. I think we already had that on in one incarnaton of the magazine, and it must have slipped off again.
