The latest Issue of Truck and Track is out now!

Logistics companies are accorded little leeway or understanding by their customers when bad weather strikes. So, in this Issue no.22 of Truck and Track, we are indebted to Ray Engley, Head of Technical Services at the Road Haulage Association, for his expert seasonal tips on wintertime driving and maintenance (page 26). As Britain’s leading trade magazine for the road-, railfreight and multimodal sectors, we are committed to providing the industry with such advice as that – as well as new ideas – to help operators along the way.

Accordingly we draw your attention to Canute’s Canfund initiative described on pages 36-37. Major logistics groups like Canute will engage subcontract hauliers on an ad hoc basis to manage seasonal peaks (such as pre-Christmas in retail) and periods of extraordinary activity from high-volume accounts. To assist the vital cashflow of small subcontract fleets – for whom invoice settlement in 90, 120 or more days seems regrettably to be the industry norm, from February 1st Canute’s trusted network of some 650 hauliers will be able draw down invoiced funds to collect payment as soon as it is required, even the same day.
