Fedora Community Feedback So Far
by Máirín Duffy
Hey folks,
I've gotten a lot of positive feedback about Fedora Community so far
which is great! However there are a couple issues I also heard about so
I wanted to share them here so we could maybe figure out how to address
them.
If you've heard any other issues from users let's discuss and figure out
how to address them:
Complaints:
* Dan Walsh encountered a super-broken GNOME in Rawhide. He wanted to
use Fedora Community to see what gnome* packages had been built in
rawhide that week to see if any fixes might be pending. He was unable to
do this. There are few problems here:
** Koji doesn't let us filter packages based on release, but we can do
this for updates. We should definitely focus on fixing this discrepancy.
At the least then, Dan could have gotten a list of recent builds
filtered for things built into Rawhide.
** We don't have any regexp or freeform text filtering for the grids at
all. This would have allowed Dan to filter *gnome* builds.
* Michael Dehaan brought these points up, I haven't quite digested them
yet I just copy/pasted the IRC log from #fedora-admin a couple days ago:
** "I'm wondering what an unpushed update is. i.e. I'm logged in, I've
built stuff, but I see nothing in the updates tab. I would suspect to be
able to see builds and somehow click on them to "push" them."
** "It would be nice if the push page was ajaxy and didn't take me to
bodhi web - i.e. click on a build and it just appears under "updates' in
the other tab."
** "++9 million for having sorting work, though, great. nm, not sorted
yet :("
* I've heard a couple of people complaining that our pagination "sucks".
Not sure about all the issues there yet but I think this would
definitely be improved with grid freeform text filtering. I think I want
to do a few usability tests on the pagination to identify some specific
problems as well.

Issue with live streams
by John (J5) Palmieri
So I'm hacking together a live stream demo and I am running into a serious issue with my stream not loading. Apparently the hub isn't picking up my demo's entry points (the main app does so fine). I am running the hub from the system and running the app from a virtual env. The hub is started inside the virtual env but for some reason does not pickup the virtual env's configuration. I'm going to try and run a checked out version of moksha to see if that fixes it. Any other suggestions?
Also I hacked my connector to load the stream inside my app and it sends messages but they don't seem to be going anywhere.

Bling for the Fedora Community release?
by Máirín Duffy
Hi,
So we're getting really close to release. Here's the materials that I put together to help explain the project to new users:
- Guided tour: https://publictest16.fedoraproject.org/community/pages/tour (let me know if you see any weirdness / typos / breakage there)
- Two ~20 minute podcasts interviewing John and Luke about Fedora Community with some photos that we can use to help publicize the release and provide more information about it. (I'll share the audio after Luke & John have had a chance to review and sign off on them. The photos I've got are here: http://duffy.fedorapeople.org/temp/fc-photos/ )
Can you think of any other kinds of materials we could put together that might help? Let me know; I'm happy to help any way I can. The only thing I can think of is maybe some little banners; like a small side-banner for fpo to link over to the tour and maybe a little banner we could use in any blog posts made about it. I'll draft some today.
Thanks,
~m

TurboGears2/Moksha/Fedora Community packaging
by Luke Macken
Hey all,
So, I finally got [almost] the entire TG2/Moksha/FComm stack packaged, built,
and installed on publictest16. There are still quite a few things in
review, but since we have our own repo this shouldn't prevent us from
deploying. Both the moksha and fedoracommunity RPMs are now installed
on pt16, however the current deployment is not yet configured to use it.
You can keep up on the packaging/reviewing status, as well as get
details on my temporary repo here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/TurboGears2
I have yet to commit any of these package changes to CVS, but if all
goes well in tomorrows testing, I plan on committing these changes soon.
