Force refresh of maildirs to detect changes immediately
by Jeff Peeler
Hi all,
Is there a way to make mutt recheck maildirs outside of mutt? The idea
is to be able to have offlineimap's postsynchook update mutt such that new
emails are noticed immediately. I've read that mutt will recheck upon
any keypress, but that isn't helpful here. I thought that adding timeout
and mail_check options to .muttrc would suffice, but those options must
only be for IMAP folders only.
If code changes are necessary, it seems that watching for a signal would
be the easiest approach. I don't understand why the mailboxes aren't
just watched constantly anyway using something like inotify.

weird message counts
by AJ Lewis
Hey all,
I'm really liking this fork by the way - it's working quite well for me.
I'm seeing one little issue with virtual folder unread counts: I have a
folder that is showing a large unread count "1753(1748)" when I'm in any
other virtual folder, but it changes to "1753[1]" when I select it.
Notice the square braces around the 1 in the second case. There are no
unread messages in this folder. Any idea what's going on? What do the
square braces mean?
Thanks,

address completion
by Tracy Reed
As a 12+ year user of mutt I was happy to read about the fork on slashdot. I
played with sup a few months ago and I really liked two things about it:
1. tagging/fast indexing
2. Configurable using a programming language
What I didn't like about it was that it crashed constantly.
I look forward to playing with the new mutt fork. I often find myself doing
<esc>/~b"some text"<enter> and then waiting...and waiting...and waiting... :)
Thanks for doing this!
The only other feature that I might hope to see someday is auto-completion of
email addresses. I've never understood why this was missing from mutt.

Moving messages after adding notmuch tags?
by AJ Lewis
Hey all,
This may be a mutt newb question, but I'm trying to enhance the
'archive' example in the README.notmuch to also move the message to an
'archive' folder, and I'm having problems.
I'd like to do something like:
macro index A "<modify-labels-then-hide>+archive -inbox\n<save-message>=archive<return><sync-mailbox>"
But that doesn't seem to do what I want it to.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

minimal muttrc/procmailrc example?
by R. Andrew Bailey
I've messed around some with the example settings in README.notmuch,
but I'm still a little hazy on the right way to combine procmail,
notmuch, and mutt-kz (and possibly notmuch-deliver)
If I wanted to do utterly basic delivery with procmail and a single
Maildir (to start), is my best bet just to add a default recipe that
calls notmuch-deliver? Messages are tagged +inbox by default, right?
Another question- I frequently use t/T in the mutt index view to mark a
bunch of messages, but I noticed that modify-labels-then-hide acts on
the message under the cursor, not any tagged selections. I hunted for
a -tagged variant and didn't see one. Is there an easy way to have the
modify-labels commands apply to tagged messages as well?
Thanks for your work; this seems really promising and I'm enjoying
playing with mutt-kz.
