Changes that affect the user experience are controversial by their
nature. Ideally, one would like to decide based on objective data, but
usability studies have a tendency to be costly and inconclusive.

Cool - thanks.

It's a recognition that no software is bug-free, and that users
(especially children) will always find a way to make a system
difficult to use. For example, children often load activities without
closing previous ones. We can educate them to not do this, but it
still happens on occasion.
The 'solution' is to quickly restart Sugar with a Ctrl+Alt+Erase. It
solves most problems, and it's faster than rebooting.

How is the power button being prevented?
If the problem is that an early termination is indistinguishable from a
test success, why not change runin accordingly? I'm happy to do that if
needed.

12.1.0 devel build 2 released, for XO-1.5 and XO-1
by Peter Robinson
The "two heads are better than one" release.
This is the first build on our way to what will ultimately become the
12.1.0 release. Its based on rawhide and the testing I did on my
XO-1.5 provides all basic working functionality including Sugar,
GNOME, networking, camera etc. gnome-shell with associated bits to
test running it using SW rendering isn't included in this release but
I'll work to get this in place for the next build.
Some of the details of this release are:
- Fedora rawhide (it will become Fedora 17)
- Sugar 0.95.2
- gnome 3.3.2
- NetworkManager 0.9.2
- evince 3.3.2 with upstreamed go-i bindings for Read
- kernel 3.1.1
- OFW q3b23 for XO 1.5
- OFW q2f05 for XO 1
- Xorg Xserver 1.12 RC1
Known issues:
- no pretty boot (hold down the Check key to see output)
- Browse doesn't work
- Read doesn't work
- Help doesn't work
