Introduction: Outreachy Summer 2021
by Joshua Young
Hello,
My name is Joshua Young, I am an applicant for the Outreachy Summer 2021 Internship Program. This is my first time applying for Outreachy, and I looking forward to seeing what I can learn from the program as well as how I can utilize my skills to further progress the efforts of another company or community. I am Digital Designer with knowledge and experience using majority of programs within the Adobe Suite. I specialize in Graphic and Web design and I am currently advancing my skills in UX/UI and Animation.
I have always been more comfortable working on my own, and I am hoping through the experience of working in this program can help me gather more confidence to expand my horizons as well as work and collaborate with other individuals who have similar interests in design and technology as I do.
Looking forward to working with everyone,
Best Regards.

Introductions: Outreachy Summer '21 Applicant
by Josseline Perdomo
Hello all!
My name is Josseline Perdomo, I am an entry-level Software Engineer from Venezuela and one of the aspirants for the upcoming summer '21 internship term. I found the project **Improve Fedora's automated community metrics** mix Software Engineering and Data Science, for that, I think my skills would fit for contributing in this project.
During my final year undergrad project, I had been working on a Deep Learning model applied to medical images, an experience in which I learned data analysis and deep learning in Python. Also, I have previous experience as a Software Engineer, which I think would help to improve the current design and refactoring of this project.
Since last year I have been interested in getting more proactive in FOSS communities, I contributed to the last Hacktoberfest for the first time (also my first time ever contributing to FOSS communities). I hope my experience during this month contributing to the Fedora Community could help in anything, I'm always open to learning from any dev.
I recently joined the #fedora-council channel and also @joinfedora, @fedoraSummerCoding, and @fedoracommops on Telegram to get familiarized with how can I started in the community and get in touch with the mentor (btw thanks to Akashdeep for his kindly welcome). To get involved, I requested to work on this issue (https://pagure.io/fedora-contributor-trends/issue/1) to start. I hope to start work on it soon.
Nice to meet you all!
Best regards,
Josseline

Introduction: Outreachy Applicant 2021
by Rafael Garcia Ruiz
Hi, my name is Rafael, I'm an Outreachy'21 Applicant.
I'm a computer science student from Spain. I don't have a lot of experience contributing at FOSS but I'm eager to learn. Since yesterday I'm already trying to make some contributions to fedora projects. I'll try my best, I find it exciting and rewarding to participate. I think that the culture surrounding FOSS is amazing, it proves how collaboration and ethical principles can lead to a healthy technical growth of society.
Until now I have used Python, C and Java. I feel very motivated and interested to learn Rust. And even if I still havent a clear area of specialty, I'm intrigued by virtualization and operative systems.
I already had a FAS account from a moment when I tried to learn how to contribute by myself, I know this time I will succeed to learn =) I've also joined the IRC channels.
Looking forward working with all of you!
Thanks.

Outreachy 2021 Applicant
by Riya Elizabeth John
Hello!
I'm Riya Elizabeth John, an undergrad sophomore at IIT Roorkee, India.
Being a student developer with a passion for the field of ML and Data
Analysis, I do appreciate the significance of FOSS and would love to
work with and contribute to Fedora this Summer.
I'm an active member of two developer groups from the Tech community in my
college, and having collaborated on several projects here, am fluent with
Git, Python and ML libraries and DL frameworks
(Pandas/Sklearn/Keras/Tensorflow etc.)
The project proposal on "Improving Fedora's automated community metrics"
really piqued my interest!
I've joined the Telegram channels, and have been going through CommOps'
(and related) work on Pagure (fedora-messaging, FedoraCommunityStats, the
datagrepper) to better know the community and the kinda work that's done
here.
I'd love to get in touch with the mentor, and discuss what's expected from
this project- for eg: I can see that there exist CLI tools to gather stats
from datagrepper, so are we expected to work on the same collected data-
and visualise community activity with the same?
Given that the Pandemic is still raging, and our colleges are still in
online mode, novice developers like me, have faced a loss of mentorship
(>.<)
I believe participating in Summer Coding programmes, especially with an
organisation having a friendly community(like this one!) is an ideal way to
learn and keep the blues away ;D
Warm regards,
Riya Elizabeth John

Introduction - Outreachy'21 applicant
by Drishti Bhasin
Hello!
I am Drishti, an Outreachy Aspirant, and I am currently a mechanical
engineering sophomore at IIT Roorkee. My interests lie in Machine learning,
Computer Vision, and Data Analysis. I have a good grasp of git and python
and have some experience using its various libraries, mainly pandas, NumPy,
matplotlib, seaborn, and sklearn, in my internships and personal projects.
For these reasons, the project 'Automating Community Metrics' seems
interesting and appropriate for me.
I have created a FAS account and went through the issues listed in Fedora
CommOps to find something I could work on to get more familiar with the way
contributions work here at Fedora, but I couldn't understand how to move
ahead from there. Any pointers on how to get started would be quite helpful.
Looking forward to working with y'all!
Thanks and Regards
Drishti

Outreachy 2021 Applicant Introduction
by khushi gupta
Hola Team!!
I am Khushi Gupta, an Outreachy applicant and a 2nd year undergraduate Information Technology student at Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad, India.
I am really interested into stuff like design and creative thinking but i don't mind banging lines of code to build stuff. I am also a frontend developer.
That's why I want to work on the project "Develop Designs for the Fedora Community Outreach Revamp" as it suits my skillset and it's quite interesting.
I have created my FAS account few days ago and found some interesting issues on pagure related to design but I don't know exactly how I can start contributing there.
If someone could guide me on how I can start contributing, it would be really helpful for me.
I am really exciting to learn new things and to work with you all.
Thanks and regards,

Introduction: Outreachy '21 Applicant
by Swastika
Hello everyone!
Good to see the team and my fellow Outreachy applicants.
I am Swastika, design enthusiast deeply interested in HCI, I am a UX designer. I am a chemical engineering sophomore at IIT Roorkee. I started off with design as a graphic designer, then got to know more about UI and UX sides of design and decide to go for UX as it is something I love doing.
Design to me has been important before I even started my college, but chose chemical due to other circumstances.
This is my first time contributing to an open source, till now it has been great :))))
Currently I'm working on the issue #715 Requesting review for the renewed design of Fedora Easyfix. I would like to thank Duffy and Akashdeep for guiding me from the start!
I would love to work with the whole team and meet them in our weekly meets too!
I am open to all sorts of help and work if anyone needs :))))
Thank you,
Regards
Swastika
