Fedora 11 Update: libxcb-1.2-4.fc11
by updates@fedoraproject.org
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fedora Update Notification
FEDORA-2009-7249
2009-07-02 04:59:34
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name : libxcb
Product : Fedora 11
Version : 1.2
Release : 4.fc11
URL : http://xcb.freedesktop.org/
Summary : A C binding to the X11 protocol
Description :
The X protocol C-language Binding (XCB) is a replacement for Xlib featuring a
small footprint, latency hiding, direct access to the protocol, improved
threading support, and extensibility.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17868 Apparently libxcb
accidentally turned on "Nagle's algorithm" with TCP transmissions, which is
especially bad for real-time stuff like X over the network. This causes a
performance penalty for all X applications over the network, although some apps
are more effected than others.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ChangeLog:
* Wed Jun 24 2009 Warren Togami <wtogami(a)redhat.com> 1.2-4
- disable Nagle's algorithm for X TCP traffic as upstream decided this was a bad idea.
This should be a significant performance boost.
