Fedora Update Notification
FEDORA-2022-f7e6f11bae
2022-11-10 22:04:44.634576
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name : passt
Product : Fedora 37
Version : 0^20221026.gf212044
Release : 1.fc37
URL :
https://passt.top/
Summary : User-mode networking daemons for virtual machines and namespaces
Description :
passt implements a translation layer between a Layer-2 network interface and
native Layer-4 sockets (TCP, UDP, ICMP/ICMPv6 echo) on a host. It doesn't
require any capabilities or privileges, and it can be used as a simple
replacement for Slirp.
pasta (same binary as passt, different command) offers equivalent functionality,
for network namespaces: traffic is forwarded using a tap interface inside the
namespace, without the need to create further interfaces on the host, hence not
requiring any capabilities or privileges.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:
Most visible changes: - doesn't crash on Fedora 37 at start-up - ICMP checksums
for echo requests and replies are now correct - first ICMP sequence for a given
ID is not discarded if zero ---- Fixes deterministic SIGSEGV at start,
otherwise unusable. Other than that, non-functional changes from upstream
(assorted clean-ups). ---- Most relevant user-facing changes: -
CAP_NET_BIND_SERVICE is now effectively used, and other capabilities are dropped
if given (e.g. by accident) - forwarding remapped ports with pasta now actually
works. Earlier, only ports with the same initial and final destination used to
be actually forwarded
