Summary: Too many packages to upload!
Product: Fedora
Version: rawhide
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: low
Priority: low
Component: Package Review
AssignedTo: nobody(a)fedoraproject.org
ReportedBy: murf(a)digium.com
QAContact: extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org
CC: fedora-package-review@redhat.com,notting(a)redhat.com
For sure, I have the wrong category for this, but my complaint is that perhaps
the distribution flow needs some re-thinking.
It seems just plain wrong, that I download a 3.5 Gbyte dvd image, which takes
several hours, and then, when I install it, I have to spend another day getting
more up-to-date versions of stuff on that image.
Yesterday, after installing a new 9-Alpha download, the package updater tells me
there are 701 packages to update!
Well, I propose that the images be updated weekly or monthly to help reduce the
download traffic. I mean, a hundred packages might be acceptable, but 700 or
1500? That's ridiculous!

OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: medium
Priority: medium
Component: Package Review

ReportedBy: nicolas.mailhot(a)laposte.net

Spec URL: http://nim.fedorapeople.org/xgridfit.spec
SRPM URL: http://nim.fedorapeople.org/xgridfit-1.5-1.fc9.src.rpm
Description:
Xgridfit is a high-level, XML-based language for gridfitting, or "hinting",
fonts. The Xgridfit program compiles an XML source file into tables and
instructions that relate to the gridfitting of glyphs. Xgridfit does not
insert these elements into a font itself, but rather relies on FontForge, the
Open-Source font editor, to do so.
Xgridfit is used in the build stage of some FLOSS fonts, and as such is required to get them packaged Fedora-side, since we build them from source

Spec URL: http://people.atrpms.net/~hdegoede/lure.spec
SRPM URL: http://people.atrpms.net/~hdegoede/lure-1.1-1.fc9.src.rpm
Description:
Lure of the Temptress was Revolution's very first adventure game and work began
on it in 1989, even before Revolution's inception as an actual games
development company. From the start our aim was to consider the contemporary
adventures of the day and then bring something new to the genre. From this came
the Virtual Theatre engine. VT allowed in-game characters to wander around the
gameworld indepently of each other, living their own lives and doing their own
thing. Another feature allowed the player to give direct orders to Helper
characters - in this case Ratpouch - who would then go off to perform the task.
The result is a quirky and entertaining adventure game that kicked off
Revolution's fondness for characterisation and in-game humour.

Summary: Review Request: vamos - Automotive simulation framework
Product: Fedora Extras
Version: devel
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: normal
Component: Package Review
AssignedTo: nobody(a)fedoraproject.org
ReportedBy: tcallawa(a)redhat.com

Spec URL: http://www.auroralinux.org/people/spot/review/vamos.spec
SRPM URL: http://www.auroralinux.org/people/spot/review/vamos-0.5.5-1.fc6.src.rpm
Description:
Vamos is an automotive simulation framework with an emphasis on thorough
physical modeling and good C++ design. Vamos includes a real-time,
first-person, 3D driving application.
It also includes caelum, which is a program to help make seamless sky boxes from panoramic photos. The image file is mapped onto a sphere and six views are shown. The views are from the center of the sphere looking up (top row), down (bottom row), front, right, back, and left (middle row). When these images are mapped to the faces of a cube and viewed from the center of the cube, the view in any direction is indistinguishable from the view from the center of the sphere. The images for the sky box are extracted by taking a screenshot.
