It uses String or API type-checked constraints to format the layout. MiGLayout can produce flowing, grid based, absolute (with links), grouped and docking layouts. MiGLayout is created to be to manually coded layouts what Matisse/GroupLayout is to IDE supported visual layouts. Additional note to potential reviewers: I am packaging miglayout because I want to package replicatorg, which is software to control 3D printers such as RepRap and MakerBot, and replicatorg depends on miglayout. As for the version, while SourceForge page offers version 0.7.0 to download, the sources for this package identify itself as 0.6.0, although it is current svn version, so that I keep the package version consistent with the contents.
