Maybe it has already been discussed, but how does the "unbundle" of the
darkplaces engine works here?

And inside the darkplace engine are the "nexuiz-*" binaries; wouldn't be better
to package them in the xonotic package? Usually the darkplaces forks carry
game-specific patches.
