One reason for naming it 'witty' is that ubuntu and and debian does so:

  https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/witty
Second is that it's subjectively nicer name. Citing its homepage:
  "Wt (pronounced as witty) is a C++ library for developing web applications."
Thank you for pointing on existing rpm, I'll try to contact the mantainer
first.
And thank you for checking the version. I was packaging this for some time and
somehow I missed this new release.
